‘Morning,
Luvin our time here in France with the Barchetta.
The drive from the U.K. was trouble free and top down all the way!
We are at last reaching the end of the paper trail to enable us to register the car on French plates.

Now to the problem.

After hitting a pothole the front passenger side strut top mount has failed and it is proving difficult to locate a replacement.
I don’t mind if it comes from France, the U.K. or somewhere else but the car is off the road and we’re missing it ?
So once again your expertise and knowledge are called ups n to keep this cheeky little sportscar on the road.
Thanks in anticipation.

Got mine from barchettaparts in the Netherlands, but they weren't cheap and it can take a while to track down what you need on their website but that may just be me. Think a pair were between 200 and 250 euro...

I'm just being nosy but what do you mean by "gone". Are you talking about the swivel bearing on top of the strut? Couple of years ago I replaced the front shocks on my B, I took the top bearings apart, cleaned and regreased the ball races (just like I used to do on bicycle steering when I was a kid!) Have the ball races broken?

My balls all fell out and rolled away once I'd extracted the mounts. The other half was slipping on them for weeks, most entertaining. The plastic housing bits were shot as well as the bearings.

Yes evidently the mount is in pieces.
I haven’t seen it but left it with a local mechanic after it started clunking when turning at low speed.
He’s going to source a replacement from the Netherlands.

Hope it doesn’t take too long, I really miss it.

Did you manage to source a replacement mount? If so, could you let us know where from and how much, cheers

Hi,
Yes the parts guy in Holland, ”Barchettaparts” , had stock.
If I remember correctly to get the full assembly, bearing + race, I had to buy a pair which I think came out around 230 euros.

They turned up quickly and were a perfect fit.
Result!

Hope this helps.

I, as well replaced both front struts and rebuilt the top end bearings. Am I correct in thinking that there is no "quick strut ",option available for the Barchetta? Is there no other vehicle that uses this strut in Europe?
