Hi all,
Taken my B to Portugal for a road trip. Had a great run down, but now developed a significant knock from rear suspension. Local garage say suspension bush (new springs a year ago). Told they can get the part for 3 weeks!! My question is whether the bush is a standard Punto part or not. I have a 2000 B.
Any help or advice appreciated.
Thanks
Simon

I haven't been able to check part numbers but think a lot of the suspension parts are common to both Punto and Barchetta. Have a look at Shop4parts website. They seem to have plenty of bushes in stock and usually deliver next day Monday to Friday.

Hello,
Regarding the knock
Worth checking the shock absorber ( damper) bolts are fully tight , when the springs were renewed they may not have been torqued correctly.

Hope this helps

Thanks all,
Weirdly - the knock has now stopped. Do not know whether to be pleased or scared. The car is level, handles fines, tracks fine - she's booked into a Portuguese garage on Friday. Do I cancel or not. They have already had it on a ramp but no obvious diagnosis.

Hard to say what exactly is the cause of your knocking. My experience was that going over an uneven surface I would get areally loud knock, that was the bearing that is in the trailing arm, a large bolt runs thought this and connects to the subframe. The bearing is a ballrace and had collapsed took me ages to remove as it had completely seized up had to use a angle grinder to remove.
I would check it out at your garage again and see if you could return to home .

Have left in her Portugal - waiting for a garage to take a look (your post worried me too much to drive it back!). I'll keep you all posted when I hear.........

south Portugal i presume ?! Algarve ?

if you were in the north neere by Porto and you need any help !? just say something !

Thanks so much for that - we collect her in July and will be driving back up to Santander via Porto. If there are any problems with the garage, I may ask you to give them a ring for me - my Portuguese is minimal!
