Styling New hood

Styling New hood

As a side issue I would be interested in what, if any, rubber seals come on this Sonnenland hood.

In particular the original Fiat hood has (either side) a 3 inch/7cm seal that is attached to the hood material that interlocks/seals the gap between the mechanical hood upper "B" post mounted section that terminated at the bodywork and links to the hood back clam mechanism mounted seal.

To clarify this small piece of sealing is ONLY on the Fiat hood material. I've seen replacement hoods that omit this rather important piece of rubber.

It does come with the rubber seals sewn in. They are 115mm long which are longer than the ones on mine now , they fall short by 40mm and so water seeps in. This was fitted incorrectly by DTR 14 years ago, the bottom right window seal wasn’t fitted correctly and it eventually split, also there were gaps on either side where the sewn in seals didn’t meet the rear seal and so the floor pan suffered badly. Hope this new one does job. It looks mint.
I thought of using Evostick, it pongs a bit though.

Hi Dave,

I would be interested to know where you purchased the hood from. All the suppliers I've ever looked at omit that piece of rubber you're discussing.

I'm following this thread with interest, as I've been thinkin of giving my B a 20th birthday present of a new hood. Post up some pics - and a "how-to" thread would be really great, or at least, some tips on what not to do! (y)

Such a nice sunny day yesterday so I had a bash at fitting the new hood. Well I was amazed at how easy it was, all done in 8 1/2 hours and took the framework off to treat some rust.
It looks absolutely mint, a perfect fit. Just need to adjust the frame on the six bolts today to get the alignment right.
I've got plenty of pics' which I will upload at a later date.:)

Hi Dave, thanks for the write ups however, the attachments didn’t work when I tapped on them. Not sure what can be done, hopefully, some computer wizard can help.

To find the guides, navigate to the top of the forum page and on the blue horizontal line with menu items you will find ‘guides’. Click this and search down the gage for the Barchetta guide, click Barchetta and peruse the list of guides..
Top job noideadave.

Removing and refitting the hood is in the how to guide. I made a cock up of the photo uploads but put them in a separate how to. It really is quite straight forward, just put back a new version what you took off.
I’ll put a guide on adjusting the frame at a later date. More difficult. Took me about 5 hours. :(

Great comprehensive guide and a braver man than me!

Mine came with a new hood fitted thankfully, but I believe that the rubber seals to the B post are missing.

Are these available separately and where might I find a pair?

Luvin' the car but the occasional wet bum does detract somewhat :)
