German sold Barchetta from 1996. Engine code: 183.A1.000

Would this reader manage ECU codes if I get the adapter from 3 pin to OBD2?
(No Url I'm afraid )

Foxwell NT510 Pro

Also - could somebody give me a link to the correct adapter?
I only find ones with the extra plus cable and some with both plus and minus extra cable - none with a switch also.
Or is that switch attached on some KKL cable??

I've found the SRS connector - my understanding is that there is one in the same footwell (passanger/right side) except, on the right side of the footwell (nearest the door)?
I could not find anything in the engine bay!

THANKS!!

Use the demo mode to get a feel for it.
Its nice software once you get used to it.

Ive never used the 3pin cable so cannot comment. JMSG.. Thannks for the link.

What issue are you attemting to trace -clear..?? My understanding is that there is limited scope with OBD1 (1st generation)

Its our neighbors car. She bought it some years back but early it started to have starting problems. It would not start. And some time later they would show to somebody what would happen - and the car WOULD start. Next time they could not start it and it was parked inside for couple of years.
When she and huby explained to us, I first thought it was maby the immo that was problem - untill we went there and tried to strat our selves. No, deffinetly NOT the immo! It started on second try. BUT I felt strong petrol smell inside the car! I was back to the car several months later to take pictures and the same petrol smell is still in the car - even when we do not start the car!
So my guess is that its petrol relaited. And there is deffinetly a leak some where. I'll be trying to look into that when we have better place at home (we get to take care of lots of peoples cars - so every place is filled with cars...)
BUT - even if that problem would not show on a fault reader - it would be nice to have access to one - the car has been standning for so meny years now. And haven't been on the roads for so long....

Just remind that the switch in vag kkl must be always in "engine" set wen using the 3 pin (obd1) cable even wen it's reading the airbag or abs ecu ...
The switch is only use wen the car is obd2 (16 pin plug ) and you don't need the 3 pin cable adaptor !

If it's been any length I'd drain the tank clean the carb out and add fresh fuel before attempting any diagnostic
As they will likely cause problems

Chris - do you mean charcoal canister? Or the fuel filter? Or you just mean to clean the fuel tank before adding new fuel?
Good point! I'll remember to do so!
Thak you!!

UThe fuel and fuel filter also give the carb a good clean out with carb cleaner

Well I'm assuming it has a carb rather then fuel injection with the age of the car may be wrong however
