I just bought a Fiat Barchetta and I am wondering if something is wrong with the fuel pump, fuel filter or pump switch. It's rather noisy and runs continuously. Also I have petrol fumes in the car. Especially when it fully tanked. Does anybody know if this is normal or not? Hope you can help

hi there !
petrol fumes / smell is a typical problem on these cars there are some topics about it in forum ...
about the fuel pump runing continuously i think it's suposed to work that way , it's a multipoint injection system , the comon rail must be pressureysed wen runing ...
if it's to noisy then something could be wrong with the fuel pump , or maybe fuel filter is obstructed and forcing the pump ...
you should start for the easy thing and replace the fuel filter !
hope it helps !

Hi. I had exactly the same problem as you have described. I changed the fuel filter, fuel pump ( not the whole thing just the pump ) at a small cost of 32 gbp.
The pump should run all the time delivering fuel to the rail.
The fuel smell I found was coming from the two vents on top of the tank which I resealed but I had to take the tank out.
Dave fridge is correct in saying this subject has been well discussed.
Good luck.
