Hi have a '96 Barchetta - mounted to the chassis on a support bracket underneath the passenger side headlight their is a thin control module with a connector that on my car has been disconnected.. does any one know what this module might do ? I don't want to plug in and have something go kind of haywire... I have no dash lights on currently...

hard to get a picture of it - it's bolted to the cross back with a couple of 10mm bolts...

any ideas as to what it might do ?

Hi,
I don't know but if your car does not have the factory fitted car alarm perhaps it is an aftermarket car alarm that has been disabled. Hopefully someone onthe forum will pitch in.
Good luck

Your could be right on the factory alarm - I do have the little red light built beside the ashtray - which is not hooked up to anything either. I actually had it apart the other day to install a new front fog light switch as the console has to come apart. I do not have an alarm FOB with the car ( I'm second owner) and I didn't get one from PO. The module mounted in the car looks to be factory not any kind of aftermarket ... maybe some one can confirm that where the factory set up is mounted.

thanks much !

Hi, not sure if this picture helps identify what it might be, possibly number 10? I have the red light as well that is never connected to anything but there is no factory alarm in my car

That's a lovely picture , what are part numbers for
Item 9 and item 10 ?

Mine had a module for what I presume was an after-fit alarm (Scorpion) in that location. I removed it after it went haywire several years ago.

Thanks you , I think that confirms it's part of an alarm system that can safely be left disconnect .

Hi DM 914, I have the same unit on my 97 if what you are describing is a small black wafer type module. Mine has has a red and white wire that has been installed(presumably in Japan)shorting out the unit. I have not touched it but I think after checking the wiring schematic, it has something to do with the catalytic converter.
