General The "well travelled" Barchetta

After saying above about how long before I see another Sei ,I go out on foot ,

firstly I see my first Barchetta on the road all year ,the 4 I saw at DTR on MOT

fail day don't count ,a Grigio R reg going top down ,nice day so why not .

Then on the same road 1/2 hour later I see a young person in a black Sei ,

same year as Minty ...:p

I'm going to start waving at Sei owners when out driving in Minty .....

I'll see if it catches on .

I'm going to continue with pics from events I travel to ,even though they are now in a less interesting FIAT than before .

Went to the Concours of Elegance yesterday at Hampton Court .

Just a few of the best Italians there .

Ferraris.....250 GTO , 250 LM , 365 P , 275 Competizione , 250 GT Ellena ,

Miura , Bizzarinni , Mini 250 GTO and TR , Lusso .

Delighted that you're continuing this thread, in memoriam to your well-travelled Barchetta. I think it's my favourite thread on this forum. When I see you've added a new post during the car event season, I always think "Oh goody!"

As I have done nothing about advertising my car for sale complete , I will post here to try to sell any bits of it that might be useful to the members .

I have sent a PM to the bloke after the instruments .

To be honest , there isn't much of my car that is of much use .

Driver's side headlamp was new and fitted for only about 2 years .

Standard steel wheels were refurbished before I got it in 2012 and are still quite smart after 75000 miles passing , tyres are toasted .

It has the dual exit , 4 pipes in all exhaust tailpipes , with the bumper cut out to suit .

Anyone want a set of Alfa Romeo 155 alloys , painted post office red , 2 very good Uniroyal RS5s fitted , 2 others toasted .

The engine runs well , considering it's done 155000 miles , shame the battery has died .

If anyone wants it , we could discuss selling it complete before it gets bits removed .
Send me a PM please .

I do need to keep the car roll able on 4 wheels when it gets dragged off to the Autostrada in the sky .

I'm slowly peeling off ALL of the stickers I stuck to the body of this .

Today I yanked off the large Swedish museum sticker on the bottom of the driver's door and took 4 inches of paint off too .

Now you see it ,now you don't .

Red Alfa wheels off too .

These pics of the passenger side were taken in October .

It's probably too late but a hot air gun is a good idea for undoing old stickers. Unless your plan is to do a full paint job anyway.
Sorry to see all this individuality go : )

I started to type this post in Chris' bumper thread but decided to do it here instead , just scrolled through the entire thread , a lot of the pics here have subsequently been lost on 2 different defunct lap tops and a broken phone so good to see them again .

The pic I posted on the bumper thread is of my favourite spot in Italy , a garage that's rarely open and the yard and grassy area are stuffed full of old cars , mostly Italian and Citroen Meharis , the plastic 2CV jeep thing .

The pics are luckily on this laptop from 2013 or 14 so here's a few of them .
I checked ,none of these have been seen here before .

Pics coming

There are some sorely neglected gems in there (that Fulvia! oof!), but by golly, I do believe the 4th photo in the middle set is a Matra Bagheera!

(Must declare an interest here, as a Matra owner. I'd have loved to own a Bagheera, which was one of my teenage dream cars, but rust in the chassis kills them. The Murena, which was the Bagheera's replacement, had a galvanised chassis - the first production car to have one - which is probably why mine is still on the road. Just don't ask me to choose between it and my B )

You're right Gar , it is a Bagheera , there are some quite rare cars in there .

Things have changed very little there between the first visit in 2008 to my lastin 2019.

There was a sorry looking Maserati Biturbo there in 2008 ,still there 2010 but gone by the time I went back for the first time in the FIAT in 2013 .

Other rarities include 2 Citroen DSs , the white car in the first lot of pics is an Innocenti Primula .

Here's a few more .

There are some right old rarities in there! Such a pity they've been left to moulder away, to the point where many of them look beyond rescuing.

A chum of mine visited a similar vehicle graveyard in Essex a few weeks ago - an innocuous bungalow with a driveway, backyard and various outbuildings full of '60s and '70s cars in various states of disintegration. He bought a very early, low mileage Dolly Sprint for a few hundred £. Fully restored, he reckons it will be worth at least £30-40k, but heaven knows how much time & effort will be needed in order to achieve that kind of money. He's done 2 Sprints before, so I guess he knows what he's getting into.

Must stop looking at that red DS and wondering... Based on the front end, door handles and colour (assuming it hasn't been resprayed) I'm guessing it's a 1971 non-Pallas DS. Must resist, must resist . . .

Just to help you resist , it's in a village called San Leonardo in Treponzio just a
few miles south of Lucca , Tuscany .

You can't miss it .it's on the corner of the main road through the village .
