And then it got a bit noisier.

A LOT noisier.

V10 formula 1 engines n stuff.

This session got red flagged so was just a short one.

They had lots more time on track later on that day

I didn't complete this properly.

I will now post pics of the FIATs and other Italian cars from the 2 rallys I went to.

First was a small rally in the area of Pistoia ,only a short drive for me from the Lucca area.

this was just the shakedown

it then got dark and I couldn't get good pics of a Stratos ,2 Integrales and a
131 Abarth.

I could have hung around for another pass through this stage but I'd been out all day and wouldn't have got home till way after midnight.

One week later .I was now on the way home but as I have pass Verona ,stopping for a round of the Italian rally championship was obvious.

Most of the stages were in the hills north of the motorway between Verona and Vicenza.

And lastly some Barchetta pics.

The orange car is an Austrian reg car I mentioned before ,seen in Lucca.

The night pic was taken at 11pm at a deserted rest area at the last point before the A22 autostrada becomes Austria.

Foreign travel looks to be unlikely this year ,or for some considerable part of it.

So on Thursday I went to the British motor museum ,before we all get told to stay indoors, at Gaydon ,Warks.

The clue is in the name but the nearest thing to an Italian car or any foreign car

for that matter was this.....

An unused Michelotti prototype Triumph Dolomite.

Please allow me some self indulgence .
It's July 1st.
50% of this dreadful year has now passed and we are finally emerging from some of the lockdown madness and my sympathies are with everyone affected by CV and that is the last time I mention that.
At just gone midnight ,I was online trying to tax the car .....and failed due to a verification of payment problem ....:(
If you have read any of the previous flannel in this thread ,you might have noticed that my FIAT doesn't do parked for long periods .
It prefers Autoroutes ,Autobahns and Autostradas and it hasn't seen any tarmac since March 15th.
April 15th I reversed out the garage ,warmed the engine and carried out a slightly overdue oil change.
May 17th ,I started the engine to warm it up and then about 6 weeks later it was time to come out of hibernation.
After queueing for the bank to try and sort out the problem with paying online for tax ,they said that it was sorted but that it might not work straight way.
Luckily I came prepared and walked across the road with a V5C in my pocket and used the Post Office for ye old road tax payment.
£270 and no queue later I was on the way home ,if I had walked any quicker ,it would have been classed as running.
I grabbed the car keys and opened the garage door for the first time in 6 weeks ,moved all the bags of garden rubbish I have accumulated ,closed the car boot ,put the car top down ,not actually knowing if it was going to start.
Of course it started !......:slayer:
I reversed out ,poured a bottle of water over the dusty windscreen and used the wipers to clear ,so I could see where I was going and went out for a 20 mile drive for the first time in 3 1/2 months.
I'm not usually into driving for the sake of it but today I just had to .
I even did something I haven't done much this year ,bought some petrol ,for just the 2nd or 3rd time in 6 months.
The bloke filling up some boring SUV in front of me smiled when I pulled up in the comedy clown car ,probably thinking what is an old fart like me driving such an odd car ,but so what....:p
Nothing on the car had seemed to have seized up or stopped working so all is good .
Hope you enjoyed that .
The pics......that is my keyring ,yes it's 8 x 4 inches of plywood with a tricolore of Ferrari and Lamborghini stuck to it .
The other side isn't as good.
And 2 pics of the grubby car ,yet to be washed .

Did you wear a mask in the bank? - I cant wait to do that!

It didn't occur to me that people would be walking into banks with masks on but the woman at window #1 whilst I was at window #3 had one on ,luckily she wasn't shouting " put the money in the bag and make it quick " and brandishing a sawn off .

The staff marshalling the 2 man queue outside and social distancing were wearing masks and gloves and there was lots of extra measures inside to avoid contact in the "new normal " ....

Back to the FIAT ,I was just glad the 7.5yo battery still had charge enough in it to turn engine over after 6 weeks .
