General The "well travelled" Barchetta

General The "well travelled" Barchetta

July and it's my first time to Sweden in the Fiat ,I did this trip also in 2010 in my Cosworth before it broke significantly on Christmas day.

To break up the trip ,I went to the Louwman museum in the Netherlands, another excellent motor museum well worth a visit.

I took the same pic of the Ford at this service area with the sign in view.

Then travelled to Motala ,where ,guess what ,there's a motor museum.

A prototype Koenigsegg ,the cars built in Angelholm ,not a million miles from here.

Outside the museum by lake Vattern ,a vast body of water.

On to one of the main events of this trip, Power Big Meet , a huge show ,over 3 days for American and custom cars.

Sweden has a huge amount of American cars there ,possibly the most outside of the Americas.

They even allow strange Fiats in on the quieter first day on Thursday.

It was quiet on this Thursday as it was a bit wet but you can see how huge this airfield is and on the Friday and Saturday it is filled to the brim with cars, the bloke on the PA says 15-20,000 cars attend at peak.

really like the rusty look painted bumper on this.

A Lamborghini ,sort of.

A Camaro Yenko ,a very rare and desirable version.

I then had a week till the other event so went on a sight seeing trip.

At Stockholm docks ,Silja line sail to Finland ,amongst other places no doubt.

Many of you may have heard of the infamous Cosworth graveyard.
Due to my previous Ford interest ,I had visited this in 2010 but might as well go back again as I'm passing nearby.

When I'm taking this pic the owner comes out and we chat for a few minutes.
He's not completely nuts and even gave me his email address ,long since forgotten.

My faithful companion on all of these trips ,relaxing on the beach ,coast of the Baltic sea.

At the construction of a bypass bridge at Sundsvall ,now completed.

At the F15 museum in Soderhamm

The final event for this trip ,the Midnight Sun rally ,which is based in the same town as Big Meet ,just 1 week later.

This rally is a big deal in Sweden as Stig Blomqvist and Bjorn Waldegaard [now deceased] are invited to drive cars in it.

Due to giving myself a really bad back ,I ended this trip early and came home ,missing the best days of the rally.

All the rest of the pics are now on my smart phone so I'll end this for the moment and finish 2014 later with my most insane trip, an 1885 mile trip,
to Modena ,to see some Maseratis that I did in 50 hours round trip ,in one weekend.

The 2 week mileage for the Sweden trip was 3736.....:D

I wanted to see if this trip was even possible.
It was.

Alps in view,Italy the other side of a long tunnel.

Wow! I'm going to need several days to do justice to this collection.

I'm struggling to identify lots of those cars - it feels a bit like exam time, when you haven't done enough revision, and questions that you're sure you know the answers to are just beyond the reach of your feeble memory.

I'll probably have that exam-time recurring nightmare tonight (you know - the one where you turn up to the exam late, having revised the wrong subject, and having forgotten to put your trousers on..)

Some of the Maseratis I went all that way to look at.

They also show short archive films projected onto the large white wall.

Sorry this is taking so long but I have just over 6000 pics on this phone to scroll through when posting.Battery isn't much kop either.

Anyhoo,my big trip of 2015 was my biggest yet and will remain the biggest.

After cutting short my 2014 Sweden trip,I had unfinished business there,so back I went.

First pic.....I drove 6-700 miles in terrential wet weather in Germany to get to this spot, found by chance behind the first filling station over the Denmark border.
Second pic....the Storabaelt bridge which traverses part of Denmark heading east towards Copenhagen.

Second day from that camping spot to Sweden, got stopped by Danish police first thing for a document check, they were civil and efficient and I was on my way.
Drove another 400+ miles today.

Pic 1.....All the way to Oninge camping site,a very quiet site near lake Vattern ,which I mentioned in the 2014 bit.

That 2nd pic shouldn't be there.It's a Skoda R5 rally car.

Next 4 pics are a view from a derelict historic building which is attached to a motorway service area.
