Hi all,

I've finally got around to upgrading the speakers in my barchetta's subwoofer. I know a few of you have already undertaken this so thought I'd get some advise.

I'm planning to discard the built in amp as my head unit is pretty powerful. I do though want to use the existing connector if possible.

My question is what are the various conductors for?

The red and black are I take it the incoming power which I'll no longer need.

The remaining 5 conductors are yellow, orange, pink, blue and a slimmer white conductor. I'm guessing that the coloured conductors are the left and right speaker channels but can anyone tell me which is which?

Also - does anyone know what the white conductor is for?

Hope you can help.

Regards

Richard

Hi Richard, I've searched the manual and can't find the answer but I did the same on my unit - I removed the amp (because it wasn't working). I opened up the subwoofer (it's a bit flimsy so be careful to unscrew all the screws) and just rewired four of the cables directly to the speakers. I think I used the yellow, orange, pink, blue as these run all the way to the head unit. The black and red are, as you say, for 12v power so not needed. This way you don't have to change the white connection plug, which is what you're after.

It was very straightforward.

Here's the schematic but it's not very helpful.. I'm guessing (badly!) the wire colours are Italian so:
G = yellow
N = black
AN = orange
R = red
ZB = not sure of a colour starting with Z... But B is probably blue
ZG = Again, no idea..

No mention of the white there..

Many thanks for the info and the diagram. I'll crack on with the install this weekend.

Cheers

Well I finally got around to looking at the connections on my barchetta. It looks as though the wiring was changed from my 1999 model as it doesn't tie up with the 2000 model wiring diagram. I only have 2 speaker connections at the back of my head unit so there must be a crossover network somewhere which splits off the feed to the subwoofer.

Any ideas where this is as I need to bypass it/remove it so both the front speakers and my new rear speakers get fed the full range of frequencies.

I plan to run new cables from the head unit to the subwoofer box.

Any advice gratefully accepted!

Hello! Please, could anyone put the picture of location, where to plug the OEM subwoofer cable? My car was made 8/2000 and equipped with OEM Clarion radio unit, so probably I should have the connector nearby the left front speaker or under the dashboard at the driver's side. But I can't see it.

And if I will not find it, should I cut the frond ending of the cable and connect it directly to the ISO radio connector?

Thank you for any advice.
