Classic Insurance for Barchetta

Has any one been able to insure thier Brachetta under a Classic policy? I have tried several companies but they do not consider the Barchetta to be a classic.

Hi,
We have a number of classic car schemes that can cater for this type of vehicle. We also have a exclusive scheme purely for 2 seater soft top cars so I'm sure we should be able to help. If you wanted to PM me some contact details I'd be happy to arrange for one of my quotes team to give you a call back.
Regards,
Dan.

Hi, I did try your company yesterday and was told you do not list the Barchetta as a classic, not sure why as they are super rare. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Silvos.

I was also disappointed with my quote from Adrian Flux, so stayed with my existing insurance company.

Hi Silvos,

This may not just be because of the car itself. There are several factors that determine if a vehicles qualifies for a classic car policy, such as if it is a second vehicle, used for social domestic and pleasure only, limited mieage etc. Not just the age of the vehicle.

Kind Regards
Dan

I asked two weeks ago, mine is a 3rd vehicle only used for social/domestic very limited mileage less than a thousand a year and had a issue with it not been on classic but cherished also replacement cost against value of the car. Also seemed that that there was no possibility of keeping the car in the event of a economical insurance claim

When I lived in the UK I had no problelm getting classic car insurance and that was when my Barchetta was 7 years younger. For many years I insured classic cars via Diamond Insurance Consultants. I assume they are still in business and their number is 01442 825481.

I've just started to look at Barchetta insurance.. the cheapest quote that I've found is through a normal comparison website and significantly cheaper than "specialists". 170 for the year and 5k miles seems reasonable (zero no claims bonus). Comprehensive was cheaper than TPFT, and that included some commuting.

Re: Classic Insurance for Barchetta

If it's a second car, look for an insurer that will match your NCB on your other car. A number of them have started to do this. And mine is still cheaper (just 90 last year) if I put my wife on the policy as a named driver, even though (a) she never drives it because it's LHD, and (b) she has a much worse driving record than me. Go figure!

Re: Classic Insurance for Barchetta

With apologies for reviving an old thread, I've just renewed my insurance on the B with Adrian Flux, for the princely sum of 85, fully comp - the cheapest it's ever been. I was seduced away from them last year by a well-known nautical insurer's multi-car deal, but Flux have mirrored my NCB onto my recently-acquired Murena, so I'm now covered on both cars for 172, incl. courtesy car, agreed valuation, and legal cover (essential imho - trust me, you only need to have one serious accident to discover how useful it is to have legal cover enabling you to hire a top legal team). If anyone from Flux's is listening in, I spoke to Kyle, who was absolutely excellent.

Incidentally, I had 2 other quotes from specialist classic car insurers, and while they were able to insure the Murena for under 100, they were both much more expensive on the B.

Oh, and the well-known nautical insurer retains our business for my Panda and the wife's Volvo, which saved us well over 100 on a multi-car policy than if insured separately.

Re: Classic Insurance for Barchetta

You're welcome!

(PS Any chance of a cheeky discount for unsolicited promotional work next year? )
