I have a 95 Barchetta, the starter motor keeps clicking (like its trying to engage) and refusing to turn, it started doing this occassionally but now its really struck.

Any ideas?

New starter motor? Or is there an easy fix.

This car really is a lot of fun to own, I paid peanuts so expected a few niggles but this and a missing red key have been my only troubles in 4k miles and 3 months.

Hit it with a mallet and maybe some WD40!

Tried doing that but is really difficult to get at to hit as its behind the engine and passenger cabin bulkhead, I will have a go and see if I can get some wd40 into the right spot.

I believe its a sticking spring (or soleniod) that returns the main cog. (Really technical explanation there, lol).
