General Red and Blue Keys

Superspotter,

You're right it's the one next to the Batt.

As far as the keys go it's the Engineer only one I'm missing not the
Master so I'm happy!

Oh and FIAT in Stockport have recommended a Car Key
place locally to ge a Blue / Silver Spare!

So just anyone with any ideas about the Alarm? Replies always
appreciated.

Regards

DaveA

Superspotter, you have PM!

I think exept the keys we must get a card for the immobilaser(how is it speeled) as well.It has a sequence of turn on and off the key to bypass the immob.
I dont have the manual of the B and i got three keys ,a red(more brown actually)and two silver/blues.

Wellll, regarding the starting Problems you maybe on the verge of the problem I just solved, ECU forgetting the FIAT anti theft code. The tell tale sign would be the Injector light coming back on after 4 secs or so.

I just replaced my ECU and Code block plus Ignition Key/barrel VERY luckily for another one - 90 Euros on Ebay!! Yippee. here in Munich I was quoted 2500 Euros for the well known replace everything story!!! Ouch!

See this link that recognises the problem http://www.ecutesting.com/fiat_common_ecu_failures.html

Also, These guys also claim they can provide free running ECUs with no code, but never got back to me to confirm (see link) http://www.ecutesting.com/free_running_ecu_s.html

Now all I have to sort out is fluctuating tick over cos of the new ECU!! AHHH:worship:

The owner of a B I'm looking at uses his red car daily! He said the other one didn't work. Maybe it was the machanics key(?) Are replacement ordinary keys easy to get from a red key?

Yes they are but you should not use the red key! Fiat specificallly state that it should be kept safe and to use the other key supplied.

Cheers Super, yeah I told him that at the time. It sounded like the other key was being blocked by the immobilser - lights on but no one home, so to speak. Could that be right? What would it take to rectify that? I think he had 2 cards with codes on, one for the tape deck (which he'd also managed to lock in 'safe' mode). Obviously he's not as savvy as you guys!

I have posted this before but I cannot remember which thread:D
Red one-master, to be kept safe. Blue one-mechanics key, operates ignition only. Blue/silver key-day to day key, operates all locks and ignition:)

Yeah, thanks I found that one. But his (presumably) Blue/silver key works the radio aerial but not the starter. Could that be the immob?

The blue and silver key should work everything on the car. It should be quite straightforward to have a copy cut from the red master key but you would not be able to get the all blue key cut from the master as that only works the ignition. Bit of a waste of time really the all blue key, you give it to the garage to start the car yet they would not be able to lock it when it was'nt in the workshop and I for one would not leave my B unlocked anywhere if it was'nt in my sightline:eek:

Yes, I realise the Blue / Silver key should work the ignition. That's my question really: why doesn't it? I think it must be something to do with the immobilser, but I thought someone here might know.
Cheers.

I don't know the answer to the question above, but I thought I ought to "fes up" to the fact that my wife walked past while I was looking at this thread and said "Oh, those keys, I put them here", so I have got a red and blue key :)

Strange thing is I've disconnected the battery before, and so have the garage, but I've never needed the key!

Matt.

You should never need it just because the battery has been disconnected. It is in case the ECU is ever "spiked" or for any other electrical glitch that may or may not arise:D

Ah OK, then maybe your blue/silver key has been copied off the original blue key rather than the red master key??

This old thread explained all of the keys I have with my Barchetta. I was baffled why the blue key wouldn't open the door, yet started the car. Now I know why! Also I will place my FIAT key card and the red key in our safe to be sure not to lose them.

These forums are a great source of comfort for me in Canada to be able to access vital information so I can own a unique fun car that was never sold here.
