Hi, my Barchetta's engine Ecu has gone wrong. a recon one from the Fiat Dealer is £305 inc vat and a new one is £500 and something. Anyone ever had theirs repaired anywhere? i notice a website called the 'Ecu doctor' who sounds reasonabley priced. £90 plus parts to repair. anyone had any experience of them or other repairers? thanks

A company called Clovertech may be worth a chat.

They working on a solution for the Hitachi ECU and and can offer a setup with a standalone ECU. and they have a lot of modifications available for the 1.8 engines.
You can get them on 020 8470 7809. They may be able to offer you a cheaper alternative, otherwise call DTR Sports, they are cheaper than your local Fiat dealer but not always friendly.

thanks for the advice chaps, i have phoned various repairers already today and will phone more tomorrow! so far they all say that they have never really had to fix one for a barchetta before as Hitachi ECUs are normally so reliable! they estimatet £130 to £160 to repair it (if they can) which is half that of a recon Fiat one from Fiat dealership parts dept, and ofcourse if it is repairable there is no need for reprogramming at the dealership and it should be an easy self fit job and instant driving again! Thank god i have my trusty (£70 from ebay) Cinquecento to use while the barchetta is having one of it's phases of unreliability! I shall decided tomorrow who i will let have a go a fixing the barchettas ECU ! :chin:
