Good morning everyone from Canada!

I am the proud owner of a 1997 midnight blue B here, not too common aroudn these parts obviously.

I am attempting to replace the outer passenger side boot and I think I'm on the right track - following the workshop manual - but one bolt is proving impossible to remove.

I've got the nut off, but the bolt is stuck. No amount of WD40, heat, and smacking seem to be able to get it out.

Can someone please review attached and let me know if I'm missing something obviously?

I'd also welcome any other tips - I've found lots of info about this job on the forums but little specifically for the B.

My alternative is to zip it up and take it to a shop but the only shop here I'd trust with this is $150 an hour.

Suggest following:

1) Try some heat on the knuckle casting with a blow torch. The casting hole will have a little expansion and this may be enough to break the hole to bolt bond (no doubt due to rust). Don't go mad with the heat. 100degC. would suffice.

2) An air wrench or air gun on low setting. We are not looking for power/drive but for the repetitive shock vibrations with small turning moment. 99%+ of the time this works 1st time for me.

I always do 2) first as I have the air wrench and air gun.

You can also try using an electric screwdriver / drill with those adjustable torgue settings where the item vibrates when the setting is reached. On the high setting it won't be enough to rotate the bolt but the virbrations will/may be enough to shake things up a little.
