Hello!

I have another problem that I would like to solve unless it's too complicated/expensive.

The electric windows usually work fine, but sometimes they do not work at all, nothing happens when pressing the buttons (no electric noise from what I can hear). After driving for awhile, they suddenly start working again.

What is the reason for this, and how can it be cured?

The fact that both windows stop working means it's probably the relay however, it could be as simple as a poor contact at the fuse box. I nicknamed my car Christine, from the Steven King novel, after the window mysteriously wound itself down and back up again all by itself. The odometer doesnt go backwards but the cassette player does play Dire Straits and ZZ Top though! :D

Anyway, have a look at

You will find it useful.

I had the same issue, and it turned out to be a cold joint in the relay. Remove the relay - it's the biggest one under the glove compartment/passenger side airbar junction box.
Open the casing carefully by levering with flat screwdriver or to. It's quite tight, I had to use a little force there but got it open alright.
You'll probably see right away the cracked joints (where the relay pins and the circuit board connect), but resolder all of them to be sure. Peace of cake.

Btw you can test whether the relay has bad joints or not. Turn on the ignition, and wiggle the relay casing a bit. You should hear the relays click on and off inside, if there's a bad joint.

Thanks for the reply mentioning the relay as being the possible cause for intermittent window operation. I have exactly the same problem and will try your suggestions - many thanks!
