Hi All

Been a while since I have updated this thread, sorry.

Not much has happened to the B in the last year. I ran it until the end of August last year until the tax was up and put in into hibernation for the winter.

Really good fun to drive, especially with the hood down!

There are a few things that need doing to get it how I want it but after a lot of thought, I have decided to sell the Barchetta. It is going to a very good home and I am becoming the owner of another Y10 as part of the deal. One that has been heavily modified for track use.

There have been some ups and downs in getting the B to were it is now to say the least. However, I am glad that it was saved from the crusher. Car projects like this are never going to make you money but most of us do it for the enjoyment of taking on a challenge.....don't we!

Cheers

Dave

So which y10 are you bringing to panda camp?? Rofl

Love projects, especially car ones! And the results of your effort and money spent make it all worthwhile :)

The 'new' y10 hasn't been modified that much to make it look like a Panda!

Might have to make the Abarth look like a panda if I don't get the to do list finished on the red one

Time to say hello - as Dave has so kindly "almost" introduced me anyway

I appear to be the "proud" owner of this Barchetta - no idea what my plans are for it yesterday as I only bought an early Boxster a few weeks ago and not sure I need both

And somewhat surprised that comparing meerkats today suggests the Barchetta will be dearer to insure

Will book in for MOT first and see what I have let myself in for - to be fair to Dave, he's got a LOT bigger job on his hands :)

Being an old g*t, I managed £161 with Flux, probably not helping that I have two open claims on my insurance where other people have driven into me (and I have not claimed against my insurers) - 1 is going to court next month, the other will do one day - and the wife's 500 got hit while unoccupied in the snow 3.5 years ago so we had to claim on that one or we might have got lower

Still surprised I got the Boxster insured for a few quid less (with Saga!) - guess they don't like LHD

Interesting conversation today with keith at Auto Integrale where all my cars are maintained these days (and for past 10+ years)

He used to work at L&M (High Wycombe) who were Lancia specialists who branched out into Fiats way back when, I used to deal with them in the 90s

Anyway, Land Marque was L&M - he was there back when the Barchetta was built, they did the one, and a Fiat Coupe whose owner I know

Will find time to run over to reading in next few weeks with the Barchetta to see what he can remember

Interesting stuff Trevor.

I was trying to remember who it was that I spoke with about the Barchetta. It may well have been Keith but I can't find the post on here at the moment.

Hi Trevor & welcome to the forum

Apologies in advance for cluttering up this thread.......

If your memory is good you'll remember that I cadged a Y10 arb from you about 18 months ago for a Panda project - as luck would have it the seemingly impossible to find arb was about a mile down the road in the same town! I also had a quick peek at the contents of your garage (y)

Anyway when the Panda is finished we must meet up so you can see what I was rambling on about. It's getting close and did a trip to Scotland this weekend (small world, Dave Henry was at the same event!), but still lots of finishing off to do! The thread is at https://www.fiatforum.com/members-motors/296808-project-panda-looking-pandas.html if you're interested (warning it's getting quite long & there's plenty of typical Classic Panda twaddle amongst it!) - I need to update the thread a bit following recent progress too! (y)

As usual I've distracted myself  Where are Auto Integrale and what are they happy working on? I used to use L&M (and got the Coupe there 11 years ago) but fell out of love with the quality of their work/service some time ago! I've got various potential work coming up soon, if someone's really recommended by you (ranging from a service on a 127, via a 20v Coupe cambelt  & a service/cambelt on an AGP EsseEsse). Struggling to find anyone to do anything properly who understands the cars!! Any help gratefully received as the Coupe will head back round to Southend if I can't find anyone really good more locally!

Cheers, Gavin. (y)

Hi Gavin

You will have seen Dave's new toy then! Auto Integrale are in Reading, but they don't do Fiat Coupe's any more. Anything outside Lancia integrale work is only for long standing customers, I'm been using them for 15 years

Only other people I even know are NJS, but Pershore isn't exactly local

Hi Trevor,

Thanks for the info - never mind I just thought there might be a good place locally I hadn't stumbled across!

We've seen the pics of the new toy, but for some reason Dave hadn't got round to putting it on the road in time for last weekend. I'm sure we'll see it eventually but these things have a habit of taking much longer than anticipated (hence the 2 year Panda project).

I'll keep an eye out for the Barchetta. (y)

Good news is that the Barchetta now has an MOT so I can pick it up tomorrow

Will try and get some form of report on the car, when I took it over, Keith did remember it from the L&M days. I did ask if he could put the cams back in, but only if the piggy back is still there and he wasn't too busy
