Re: Diagnostic plug!!

it's located under the passenger handglove box.
Right next to the big fan box. I't probably clicked into it.
One for the airbag reset, other one for diagnostic.

Hi Bollie69, thanks for the reply, my B is a 2002 and it hasn't got a passenger glovebox, I have taken the panel off but no diagnostic plug there.
I am still looking

Re: Diagnostic plug!!

If it's an OBD2 later model, it's probably within the area of the drivers footwell. The 'rules' of OBD2 said that manufacturers would put the socket within 30cm of the steering column.

Re: Diagnostic plug!!

On the later OBD2 / Later Barchetta it is located under the driver's seat, on the cross bulkhead. There is a flap that opens to reveal the OBD socket behind.

If you have long legs (seat right back) it is easy to see. If you have short legs (seat right forward) then you will have to move the seat back.

Re: Diagnostic plug!!

Hi All - I have the only B in South Africa where the cars were not imported because of left hand drive. The Fiat dealers here consequently did not import the software for the B. The Stilo and Grande Punto were however imported; wouldn't their diagnostic programme work on my B?

Get hold of http://www.multiecuscan.net/ and the relevant cables. Used this on the Alfa and it's brilliant.

Re: Diagnostic plug!!

Hello Pete (HP) - I have had a look at the site which looks amazing. I wish I had people here who could explain all of this to me, although it is nicely presented. Did you use the free version? - I presume this has quite a few limitations. Practically, how did you start? Once downloaded, how did you select the plugs to use?

Re: Diagnostic plug!!

The free version allows you to look at most things, but limits what you can actually do - for example I couldn't reset the service indicator on the Alfa 159 until I had the paid-for version. It even identified that the heated door mirrors weren't working properly!

Looking at the site, it says you need a VAGCOM unmodified cable and 3-pin adaptor, so something like:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-Cable-KKL-VAG-COM-409-1-OBD2-II-OBD-VW-Audi-Seat-Skoda-Auto-Diagnostic-Tool-/171533140268?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item27f02c 012c

and

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3Pin-OBD-to-16Pin-OBD2-Diagnostic-Adapter-Connector-Cable-for-Fiat-Alfa-Lancia-/261596861547?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3ce863 546b

to get you talking to it.

edit: and a laptop, ideally!
