Hi guys.

Well today ive refitted the cylinder head after having two burnt valves, fitted a new cylinder hea'd gasket set, new head bolts, cam drive etc. etc. i thought that I'd like to start it up before refitting the cooler in cause i did something wrong and would have to re do some procedures.. But after firering it up it only went on two cylinders, due to a bad ground wire. I fitted a new ground and started it again and now had a terrible racket coming from the variator which i had refurbished earlier with new spring and teflon thingi. Now i turned the ignition off and when i later tried to start it up again i had no spark and it didn't get any gasoline..... Now i think this might be due to the non existing radiator, that it went a lite warm and that the "security coding" system shut it down or that the ignition box was burnt due to bad ground.

Now question is, has anyone had a similar problem? I would like to get the car running again since all the mechanics work, and i have compression in every cylinder so i know the valves and cam drive is correctly fitted and working.

And does anyone know how to reset if one of the fault/security codes is set of?
I have a red key.

I've worked many hours on the car so far and has had an awful day, so any ideas or help would be welcome

An update!!

Got the car running again today, and sorted out an exhaust leak and a lose plastic bit that caused the racket..

But unfortunately it still didn't run on the fourth cylinder. Checked all the sparkplugs and ignition coils. They all worked fine but none of them had a spark when fitted on the fourth's wiring.. Now could the ECU cause this? Or would a faulty ECU just make the car unstartable? I hope (cross my fingers) that it's just bad connection or a bad cable so i'm going to meassure all the cables but not today, and maybe not tomorrow but soon.

This question is all over the place with a lot of things that are irrelevant or confusing (bad earth causing running on two cylinders... no spark... no fuel... non-existing radiator... loose plastic bit...)

My advice would be to first of all disconnect the battery for at least 24 hours, ideally 48. This should mean the ECU will reset when you reconnect the battery and clear any glitches that might be present.

While it's disconnected check the cam timing is correct, check the idle/air/lambda sensors are all connected properly and make sure the battery is fully charged.

Then see what symptoms you have and let us know.

Well that's like if I would say that your answer is irreverent if you just want to point out how irrelevant my question were.. Just thought it would be nice to give some input on what has been going down etc. and the "no spark" thing I would say was most relevant..

Anyhow today I got around checking the ignition harness which was in poor condition, I found some worn and damage cables exchanged these and now it runs on all cylinders! Whooho! HOWEVER the injection warning light on the speedo is still lit and there was also ALLOT of white smoke coming from the exhaust.

My guess would be that the lambda probe has taken a beating from when the engine was running poorly with broken valves and that the smoke is unincinerated gasoline also from before repairs were made.

Feedback on this then?

You need to get the fault codes read, this is why the injection light is on. If the fault codes relate to the previous problem you can just delete them. I would make a note of them for future reference though.

If the car is drivable take it for a short road test and check whether it is still emitting white smoke, if it is perform a 'sniff' test to ensure the headgasket has not failed.

Report back!

Aggudabbu, I think Twilight Johnny Atom was just trying to say to draw a line under all the faults by starting afresh to then check which symptoms are present to reduce the chances of some symptoms being a red-herring.

The way in which the post was written by yourself was slightly muddled and for us to be able to help you, it would make it easier to be in a more concise format.
For example; a list of faults with a description next to each.

It's no problem anyway guys, lets start again.

Have you disconnected the battery as it has been suggested?

Thanks for clarifying that Afroking but I have to ask why my own post clarifying it was removed?

Moderating like that will certainly lose me as a member of the forum if it is to become the norm.
