Hi

I need to remove the instrument cluster from my 96 Barchetta. It looks like I'll need to remove the steering column trim (or at least the top part of it) to get to the securing screws at the bottom of the cluster.

Does anyone know how to do that? I don't want to take off anything that I don't have to!

Thanks in advance

There are a few screws in the steering shaft cowling, Then the rest are Allen-keys in the instrument cluster cowling. You probably need to lower the steering wheel rake in order to get things out without breaking them.

You need to take top and bottom covers off around the steering wheel, then the cover over the instrument panel and then the panel itself which is in one part.

Goodluck!

Thanks - I'll give it a go!

Hi again

The bottom steering column cowling unscrews and comes off without any problems, but the top part must be clipped in somewhere, and I can't see where. It prevents access to one of the Allen keys holding in the instrument cluster, so I'll have to get it off!

Can you tell me what I should do to remove the top cowling without breaking it?

Many thanks!

there are another 2 screws that hold this part on. good tip for putting these screws back in is to tape them on to the screwdriver on refitting as when upside down it gets a bit tricky.

Thanks - never would have found those if you hadn't pointed me in the right directiom!

i also didn't found them first time... second time was too late. :bang:
