I am going to replace the flexible hoses on my 1997 barchetta with ABS.
Is there anything I need to know or do.
I have replaced hoses on other cars before, with the main problem being rusted fittings.
Any tips or advice on bleeding the brakes and in which order.
Is it better to bleed each brake unit after fitting the new hose.

Thanks

Pure speculation this. ABS systems create very high brake pressures with rapid rise and fall of pressure when ABS is active. Bascially large pressure shock pulses.

With rubber hoses the material has the ability to absorb these shocks. With stainless steel braid PTFE hoses the outer steel braid is for rust free sleeve protection an gives little wall sopport. The inner small walled PTFE hose can withstand high pressures but may NOT be able to tolerate the pressure pounding that an ABS system generates when in operation during locked wheel conditions.

Just a thought.

Any having done some *oogling I can't actually find any reason why braided hoses are not suitable for ABS systems.

So my "Pure speculation...." post would appear to be utter tosh! I would admit though the finding these hoses listed for modern ABS cars is actually quite hard so there is possibly something 'funny' going on.

Maybe they are considered "boy racer" addons and thus there is not enough of a market to produced make/model general fitments.

Real motorsport applications are generally custom made to order and hence not a "stock" item.
