hey...

I don't know if there's an oil leak or some condense... In the back of the engine where the injectors are, in those corners everytime is a stain and some drops of oil i guess... around the first injector (from the left side) You have it on your cars too? The oil level is a little above the max limit...

I realised that between 1500 and 2000 rot/min the car doesn't have power... (the variator is noizy only when I start the engine, for 5 sec).

What could be the problem? From where is coming that oil or what could be?

And another question... for what is that tube? I never saw the coolant coming from that tube

First of oil, the oil is probably leaking from the variator solenoid as the seal is very poor. Re-seal it with some gasket sealant.

Secondly that is the coolant return pipe you won't notice much coolant coming from it.

From the picture your coolant seems low, top it up?
It might just be the reservoir is dirty making it look low.

Thanks for answering...

The variator solenoid is that part between the first 2 injectors? What kind of gasket do i need?

About the coolant, the car from the picture is not mine... i just used it as an exemple.

Thank you

now i have question... what's that part in front of battery? looks like is attached to battery....

Yes that is correct.

You need to buy a sealant for gaskets, I would give you a web address but it would be in the UK.

i have something like a red silicone glue ... I guess would be fine... I just have to see how to take it off...

thanks

There are two Torx head screws to remove, then you just lift it out of its seating. Very easy to do, you don't need to unplug it either.

Sounds like an easy job.

I'll try later.

And I have another question... i realised that if I drive it at 2000rot/min for a long time, the engine becomes noizy at traffic lights... This means that the oil doesn't have enough pressure to go up to the variator?

If I speed and drive at 2500rot/min... the engine runs fine.

that rattle, diesel sound? it's variator. week ago i remove all oil and put 4l of Mobile 5W-40... it's not so loud anymore. maybe because that oil is not dense as oil i had before... (i know i should use selenia, but...)

(and those fiat guys in factory could install some small oil pump that will squirt variator after you turn engine... )

You don't have to use Selenia, most oils are far better quality.

Fiat only recommend Selenia because they own shares in the Selenia company.

Frequent oil and filter changes will prolong the life of the variator i.e. every 6,000 miles.

If it is already making a noise then you need to replace it.

hey...

for the past 8000km i used Castrol Magnatek 5w40 and i had no diesel sound for 1000km... the oil was great in winter time (Romania) but in summer time was not so dense so ....

no i use selenia 20K and again the same story... no diesel sound for the first 1000km...

I sealed again the solenoid but i didn't know where to put the silicone and i just put a thin film on the metal fixing part.

is it ok?

As long as you didn't get any inside the oil ways you should be fine. I would put a thin bead around the two mating surfaces.

I'll start today the car, cause i didn't finished with the cleaning of the idle speed valve and other stuff....

Let's see if I'm a good mechanic :)

so... I did clean everything I could, the car runs fine...

What I couldn't do was to see the right level of the oil... how do you do it :) On mine, shows 4mm above the max limit... i know for sure that is not ok cause before they changed the oil, they run out all the previous oil.

Thanks again for the support :)

Take the extra oil off the engine as soon as possible!!!!!!!!!!!!Could be the reason you had the leak, excess oil pressure!!!!!!!

Done... I took out almost 300ml and now it's at the max level.

I just have to solve the problem of the exhaust shield which is driving me nuts... although the cracks are fixed... still making noise... maybe it's something different.

I think it's vibration which wrecks the heat shield, they crack and split like crazy.

I've got some heat resistant wrap and tied it around the water pipes to the oil cooler, just enough to push lightly against the heat shield. Seems to have stopped the noise for now.

Seems to be a good idea...at least till I'll change the shield.

Thanks

I still don't have power between 2000 and 2500 rot/min :(
