OK the Superleggera I added (meaning light) in Italian in case you did not know.

The B is 90Kgs lighter (Hardtop off) than orignal. NOw to start stripping more. Looking for a carbon Fibre expert if you know of one.

Anyway I got my car back today after modding the front. (y) Wheels arrive tomorrow!!!!

what's weight of those Superleggeras? that's OZ, high quality... they under 5 kilos i think.

1. what will you do with carbon fibre?
2. what's those light? blinkers, daylight and fog light?

look nice... (y)

The lights are 2 x fog lights and 1 x indicator \ blinkers.

Carbon fibre - Bonnet - Grill next to bonnet - Door cards then

New lighter seats - Panel behind seat will be carbon fibre - That should lose another 100kgs Taking her to around 850ish maybe less.

Nice idea Nino.

You should ditch everything non essential before you start splashing cash on carbon. You could reduce the amount of lights on the B for a start... ;)

Hay Matt, your right.

SO spanner and screw driver here I come, insulation can come off. Hardtop off today!

What else is not required???

I stripped the doors down, tweeter gone, leather covered in carbon look to see if I like it. Just need a contact now.

I am lightening due to fuel prices!!!!! and errr fun..... (y)

Bumble have you been talking to my wife????

Well 2 stone is what I could lose, that could save me 2miles per gallon.

Humm - So X Being my body weight Y being what I could lose (Arrrrrrrrr...)

LOL

Cheers (y)

aha... you don't want to go to diet, so you will lighten barchetta to have same performance as before. :) btw: removing floor will remove some kilos... it's quite heavy (especially soaked with water).

  1. I am changing the door cards to Carbon Fibre. Removing the handle and speaker from them.
  2. Will change the dash when I redesign - Remove the centre glove box.
  3. Seats are heavy -
  4. Panel between seats and petrol tank is very heavy so that will be changed. And the black cover will be changed.
  5. Carbon the bonnet and grill section.
  6. Wheels will be changed to 10kgs lighter.
  7. All insulation form the engine \ rear will be removed.
  8. Cooling ducting removed - induction kit fitted - battery in rear.
  9. Bumpers are 30kgs lighter already then orignals.
I am hoping to keep the car looking nice with minor changes most of which will not been seen.

Wing mirrors will have to remain as they are hard to change.

Floor (I agree) I may remove it but if my car leaks then I have a problem. I would like to find another solution, remove and replace with something else.

This project will be very interesting Nino. I will be keeping an eye on this one. Have you done any research on seats yet? There should surely be a quick win in that department and the middle of the car is a great place to lose fat without adversely affecting the weight distribution. Best of luck.

Lol all this to counteract that 50kgs of filler used! :D

will you still get insurance to drive her on road, would be a shame if she just becomes a track car.

Hi, not planning to track her. Yes I will still get insurance, you just pay more. The plan is so that you will not see the weight savings. I am just making good what is cheap and heavy already. Seats for example, you can save 20+ Kgs - Mine are damaged so I need new ones.

My exhaust is 15kgs lighter than stock, I have a stright pipe with only one box, not 3.

That metal sheet behind the seats is 12kgs. Change it for Carbon fibre, Cover it in cloth, you would never know.

My bumpers are copies of the orignals but 40kgs lighter front and back combined.

If you come to the Bristol Autoitalia you will not see my weight saving.

Really waiting to see the final result! (y) keep up the good work!

Cheers - Found a Carbon Fibre producer, both door cards for £99. I want to get the metal plate behind the seat done also so I may visit and get loads done.

This car will take me a few more years to complete. I don;t want it to look after market retro fits, I want it to look as it should belong. Sorry F4ust but you can tell you have been shopping.

But some people like some people don;t. I always wanted to complete my dream B (IMO) It's a great car for the money.

Sorry F4ust but you can tell you have been shopping.

sorry??

btw: about metal plate behind seats, since you will create one from carbon... why not drill a hole behind passenger seat for some woofer? you know there is some place next to fuel tank.

i show you car to my plumber, and when he see it i saw big question mark above his head: Is this made from one piece? :D

keep up good working! (y)
