I thought I was being crafty having Christmas presents delivered to work so that the family would be none the wiser. However, when the BMX ramp for eldest son arrived my heart sank - how would I get this home in the B?

But the weather was dry, crisp (and cold!) so I thought I'd try some sub-zero top down motoring. Poured some lukewarm water over the rear plastic so that it didn't crack when I folder the hood down, installed the slightly too large BMX ramp and set off for 20 miles of bliss over dark and icy Cheshire lanes.

I have to say it was wonderful - I didn't top 60 (even on the dual carriageways) and had the heaters on, but didn't need a hat. Icy, refreshing, invigorating. Possibly barking mad, and perhaps with hindsight I did take a risk with cracking of the hood (mind you, its in a state anyway!), but I can highly recommend it!! :D:D:D:D:D

Hi Mat,
Well done! Its what its all about. i love the top down feeling in cold weather and do it all the time. The heater works well and I feel cocooned in the car. I think the looks are of jealousy really. You'll have to come over to Bolton for a winter run out. Season's Greetings!

Cheers

John

There is the problem with a B + hardtop.. Spanner and helper job to get the lid off, then somewhere to store a fragile 20Kg tin lid..

Ah the joys of the freezing wind through the ragged holes in the plastic roof vs the snug warmth and low noise of the insulated hardtop...
