Tuning Induction kit (again)

Tuning Induction kit (again)

Ok, the inlet hole inside diameter is 85mm, and I need a straight rubber connector too hook up the MAF to the tube connected to the throttle body (75mm->75mm).

Has anyone bought anything from www.green-filter.co.uk? Or can you recommend any other store selling the green filters?

Ok, so I finally got the green air twister kit parts...

Fitting it was no problem, but I'm not sure what the best solutions is for the cold air feed.

There's this solution (with a pipe instead of the scoop):

That looks like a nice feed of cool air, but also looks like it would be sucking in liters of water when it's raining (there's basically nothing stopping water and dirt in that position just above the radiator).

This alternative I guess would be a better choice (the ducting pointing downwards) from a water point of view, but I guess it's not optimal to have that bend??

i have to say that i didn't have problems with water, i never notice that filter was wet... it's not exactly where hole in bumper is, it's more above than that hole. more dust 'n' water had when i have same filter hanging where original filter was. well... if you have that "bendable" hose you can point it somewhere under headlamps somewhere inside fender. that's the best place protected from water and dust...

talking about water... our fuel have 10% of nice and fresh water, so barch is get used of some additional water. engine sound funny when filled with quality fuel... :D

Hi, I've had barchetta for a few years and an avid reader of barchetta forum. Also considering a green cotton filter. As i have a 1998 le I have looked at an induction kit , but with having the older air flow meter thought a single cone was the only green cotton available. Will the dyna twist fit the 'with air flow meter' model?
Cheers

No, the dynatwist kits sold as Barchetta specific will not fit. You have to order separate parts. What you need is article no. KFDTW01 (the cold air ducting kit), no. TW85A (the filter and housing, 85mm) and a straight 75mm<->75mm connector (I bought a silicon one). I'll post a couple of pics of my engine bay shortly...

Thanks for the info. I have a k&n filter in at present, yet want to change to the induction kit. Pictures would be great to help with the install, if it's not too much bother. Did you order all of your kit from the Green cotton website or elsewhere?
I appreciate your help.
Cheers.

Here's a view of my installation. The blue silicon straight connector is the 75mm -> 75mm part that connects to the AFM (with the original rubber 85mm->75 reducer). The AFM is connected directly to the filter housing, and then the cold air ducting.

I had to modify the bracket that holds the filter housing using a sledge hammer  and cut it a drill a new hole to make it fit. I found a suitable place to attach the bracket just beside the battery plate.

The only thing I'll have to do now is to try to protect the electrical connector to the AFM since it's really really close to the radiator hose now and I think it might suffer from the heat...

can't you put first MAF then blue hose to filter like i did? or turn MAF so connector will be on battery side? to short connector wire...

btw: i always wonder why that radiator hose have elbow

I can't turn it since the air needs to flow in a particular direction. I could try to rotate it a bit but as you say I'm not sure how far since the wire is really short...

The MAF won't fit without the blue hose unless you put a different reducer on the MAF than the original one. I guess you've got a non-standard reducer on your MAF, or maybe you've got a different hose connected to the throttle body (where the oil vapor hose is connected)

yes.. i was thinking to rotate MAF i possible... well, i dont have silicon hoses... i used plastic pipes for home canalization (down pipes) :D

one elbow of 45° and one strait... both were fi75 and use motorbike inner tire to connect parts. so far so good. but that's temporary.... i'm looking for inox pipes.

btw: between air induction hoses and engine, you can (somehow) attach aluminium plate that will protect from heat. something like this...

Have you had any issues with the new induction kit or is it all good. I will be upgrading to this induction if all is well. Also have you noticed any difference noise and performance wise.
Cheers.

The sound - yes :slayer:

As for performance or problems - don't know yet, we've got 60cm snow in Stockholm and have had for the last couple of months... I guess I'll have to wait at least another month before I can put her on the road...

Great, I have just ordered all of the parts from green filter. Can't wait to fit them. Your photos will be a great help, thanks again.

yes... sound and more fuel consumption. because you will push pedal hard just to hear a roar from air intake. but for better and completely sound you should also replace exhaust. speed will not be improved, but you will have feeling that you go fast... and all other peoples around. once i scare the ****e out from a dog on the road... he was walking in the middle of road, so i came near him pressed the clutch and gas pedal to full to blockade... :D if he was few inches closer he will be sucked into... PETA Rulez!

hear the roar from exhaust... i'm not event pushing pedal hard. :slayer:

I already have a stainless steel exhaust from the CAT back so should work well with the induction. Should be here in a couple of days, will have to find time to fit, shouldn't take too long. Happy days.

I haven't got my Barchetta any-more, so I was just popping in for a visit when I saw this thread.

I had the older style separate MAF and I fitted a CDA. If you do a search you'll find some pics and commentary about it and how I fitted it.

Yes thanks, I'll PM you.
