I need to take my front bumper of to repair a crack but I'm a bit stuck. I've managed to remove the two bolts from either side that hold the bumper in place. Is there anything else that is holding the bumper on because I can't even get it to slide forward. The two sides are loose but the front end is not budging. As far as I can see there is a mounting point for the fog lights which may be screwed onto the bumper but not sure.

Any help? I have searched through the forum but didn't find anything conclusive.

Yes. There are 3 bolts each side. 1 on the plastic bumper which screws into a locking plate and 2 other bolts inboard of that. The bumper locates on 2 sliding, groved plates and the bolts simply grip the plates to the frame. Also disconnect the indicator cables / fog lamps before removing it as the wires are short and the bumper will hang on the cables and not come clear.

BTW removing the bumper is also the quickest and most practical way to change the headlamp bulbs. Headlamps come off with 2 bolts in the engine bay on the side brackets and 2 underneath, seen when the bumper is off..Unless you have arms like Mrs Incredible and triple jointed fingers...

It's no use I just can't get access to the screws and bolts that hold the bumper on around the fog lights bracket. I have no way of raising the car so I'm just lying on my back looking up from underneath. There is just enough room to fit a half length screw driver in but with the screws being rusted they are just not moving.

I think I'm just going to attempt a temporary repair for now until I can get the darned bumper off.

Jack it up and put a block under each front wheel. Gives plenty of room to get under..

Its a really good point Rustys making. Laying on the ground, I struggled to replace the fog lamp holders because I hadn't done it before and couldn't see. I lay two 140mm concrete blocks on the ground and drove the car up a couple of pieces of scrap wood. The extra 140mm height means you can get your head safely under the bumper and, being able to see what you're doing makes all the difference.

Excuse my ignorance but I have another quick question. I am a total newbie to Barchettas. Does the bracket that the fog light fits into have to be unscrewed to take the bumper off? The screws are rusted and I'm just going to end up rounding them if I continue. I have the 3 bolts at either side off, but the bumper still seems to be catching.

Leave the foglight brackets alone, they should just be blanking plates screwed into the bumper.

Don't forget the 2 small screws at the bumper corners which hold the wheel arch liner...

You might need to give the bumper a thump from behind to shift it if its never been off.

Thanks, I think I've taken the wrong 2 bolts off. There are three near the front of which 2 are at one side. I took these of when I think it should be the two larger ones that hold on a triangular shaped bracket that runs perpindicular with the side of the car.
