Have been told that brake calipers from other Fiat/Alfa Lancia models can fit the B and enhance its braking.

If anyone knows or have tried this let us know.

The Brembo's off a coupe can fit but needs some slight moddifications ive been told.

I've considered this and as far as I can see, the only thing you need to do to fit bigger Brembos from the Coupe is to buy or make some adaptors/plates to hang the calipers on as they will need to be further out to accommodate the bigger disks.

These are pretty commonplace although I haven't looked for a supplier. They bolt to the existing hanging bolts and provide a different mounting point for the new caliper. Obviously they need to be suitably strong so a block of 2x1 won't do!

The problem with this is that ever Lancia, Alfa and Fiat has **** brakes. If you want stopping power, I'd look else where. Even the brembos used on the V6 Alfas and Fiat Coupé are pretty poor.

I'm not sure that's a fair comment. Had a 20v Marea which stopped really well, Alfa 156 had good brakes, Panda has incredible and possibly too sharp brakes!

ive been looking into this a bit more, have noticed that some other models like the brava, bravo, marea share the same 257mm disc, caliper and pad. But some of their bigger engine models like the 2.0 16/20v models do have slightly larger discs of 284mm and in turn a slightly bigger caliper.

The 16v early fiat coupe had this caliper before going onto the larger 305mm discs and equivelent brakes and the turbo 20v with it massive 44mm disc and Brembo's.

So possibly the 284mm discs with its equivelent caliper could be a direct replacement upgrade for the B...

A friend has just tried to fit bigger brakes to his Cinquecento. The 257mm brakes from the Fiats fit straight on, but the 284mm calipers don't line up with the bolt holes in the hubs.

Worth a quick check before buying, I'd suggest the 20v brakes may bring the same issues to the Barchetta.

Didn't you have my 257mm brakes on your Cinq?

I tried to fit the larger 2.0 20v/2.4JTD brakes to a 1.9JTD bravo but the holes didn't line up at the hub. Didn't realise the B was already on 257mm disks. Are they vantilated too?

would love some bigger brakes & disks but with the origional 15" alloys I don't think that there is enough clearance between the calliper and the wheel.

 Maybe this would justify me buying a set of those nice gold alloys like Robots :)

Yes Rob, the 257mm discs worked a treat on the Cinquecento. Could splatter the passenger's face against the windscreen :)

Barch fronts are ventilated, yep.

There is a b in northern Greece with S3 breaks on... now I am not sure which parts the dude has used but I can find out if you are interested.

You might want to get some that fit right on without any modifications ;) That said, they were £349 including shipping from California so it should leave you with some spare change to get the spacers for the PCD conversion :)

Maybe I'll just sit and watch what others find compatable before I buy....
Had never thought about (or seen) gold alloys untill you posted that pic.....

But I think that they would look good on a Black Bee...:D

Must admit I'm not keen on the wobble bolt idea. seems to me like it could a weak point as these bolts are in both shear and tension loads it does not seem right that the heads should sit at an angle

I once had a brake calliper bolt fail and it frightened the c**p out of me

But I do like the idea of the gold wheels....:D (y)

They don't.

Any wheel bolt has some clearance in the hole in the wheel. Wobble bolts have 'loose' collars which allow the bolt to sit off-centre in the hole (remember on 4x100 wheels we're only talking 1mm off-centre for each bolt) while still being held securely.

I don't like the idea of it, seems as though it may compromise safety....

Twilight Johnny Atom, can you post some pictures of your car? I want to see those wheels more closely...
