I,m starting this thread as i feel it would be good to know which parts/ accessories from other Fiat/Alfa or Lancia are compatable with our barchetta and can be used/ fitted to our B's. Standard or Moddified.

Example,

Engine parts,

Braking system upgrades,

Gearbox ratios, and final drive. ( their is a longer 5th gear) surely this must be an original manufactured part.

of course their is some small interior/ exterior parts that i know we share with other models.

Punto HGT shares the same 1.8 16v engine.

Fiat coupe shares the same leather steering wheel.

The barchetta Tweeters are same as Alfa's twinspark or GTV models.

The exterior side repeaters/indicators are also found on ferraris.

PLEASE ADD TO THE LIST ....(y)

Coupe steering wheel is a bit bigger..looks the same but isn't (unless the 16vt got a smaller wheel).

Also been told that the gearbox from Lancia's integrali should also bolt straight on, the ratios would be very good and the gearbox tough, This would be a great mod for when the extra power of the Turbo goes on..

Anyone here that can confirm this, and has a spare box lying around...:)

You just can't leave it alone can you?!
Have you heard that Johnny Cash song, One Piece At A Time?
It won't be long before your car isn't a barchetta anymore!

Just having a search, found that a six speed gearbox from Alfa's 156 fits the punto HGT. does that mean it will fit the barchetta.

It's quite a close ratio 'box compared to the Barchetta's 5 speeder.

One thing I struggle to get used to when swapping from my 6 speed Panda 100hp to the barchetta is how long you can hang on to the gears in the B - seems like I'm forever changing in the Panda!

ALFA 156 1.8 GEARBOX (yes it fits) oh and titanium Flywheel mmm

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Found this thread regarding a punto Hgt, which shares same engine as the B's.

Just to let any of you guys and gals out there that are having problems with the punto or barchetta box jumping out of 3rd or crunching around, replace it with an Alfa 156 1.8 box. Advantages: all mountings etc switch from the hgt box to the alfa box. The ratios are pretty much the same with FINAL DRIVE OF 3.87 ALFA FINAL DRIVE IS 3.75. The Alfa box uses internal concentric slave cylinder and release bearing all inside the bell housing. Much smoother than HGT, pipe is the same fitting off the HGT cylinder. Clutch plate is bigger but still fits on the same flywheel. You will need a clutch for the alfa 156 tho, HGT one wont fit. Drive shafts are the same size, Only thing you have to do is take out the Passenger side drive shaft from the box and change it for the one out of your HGT box. Just hammer out and pop back in. Then if ya wanna go the whole hog as i did, While yr down there fit a titanium flywheel or get yrs balance or lightened and refaced. I have the number of a guy who makes a real titanium flywheel.(he used to work for brabham F1) Standard flywheel off hgt is about 7.5kg and Titanium is 4.5kg and wont break and come thro the passenger floor. It really is that much better.

I know the punto's share the same engine, will have to check if their boxes where the same,

I have been told that Punto shock absorbers (substantially cheaper than barchetta) will work as replacement. Can anyone enlighten me?

My car's a 1996 model.

Thanks.

So where in Kent are you? As for shocks, if your replacing them why not go for something sportier, thus more enjoyable in the corners!!

the Coupe steering wheel doesnt fit... the cylinder at the back that slots on the 'steering' is smaller on the coupe than the B..

but 6-MT from which alfa 156? all the 1,8 and 2,0 were 5-speed as I remember
the 6-speed were only GTA which is a v6 and diesels

have to say six-speed barchetta sounds tempting
but what gearbox have one look for?

ok
so basically you say that a gearbox from v6 alfa should fit into B without any problem?

then maybe one should not consider swaping an alfa 2,0 twin spark, but just go for a 2,5 v6 250bhp from gta? :D
