Worrying the vendor can't spell 'steel'.

If they are usual ebay units then they are cheaply made 'orrible things that screw onto a bracket behind the seats. I reckon in an impact they'd have zilch protection factor and just bend/buckle.

Proper roll bars are humping big things that go right round the body via the floor pan. Have a look at the winscreen roll bar in the B, Its a handy big piece of rolled steel bar that goes right down to the floor on both sides...

Be an excellent idea to fit some good ones. B is the only roadster that comes without them fitted or even a factory option..

Ebay hoops 1/10 and cosmetic only.

There was somebody on here that rolled his B - without roll bars (cosmetic or functional ones, as far as I remember) - and he didn't get hurt, so who needs them anyway?

If you roll the B then the car sits upside down on the windscreen bar and the boot lid..the 3rd brake light if you want to be pedantic :p

Im 6'2" so my head sticks out above the roof line..thus the car would rest on my shaven bonce...and no my name isn't Jack.

If you are taller than about 5'9" then you better duck damn quick and tuck your head in!

I'd surely fit bars if I was going anywhere near a track..or anywhere near white vans/minicabs.

These are two separate steel hoops, shaped with the rear contours of the rear shelf. inside the bottom of them has been welded a threaded 15mm nut and bolt section.

To fit them, you need to ,

remove seats, the rear plastic cover behind seats, the rear parcel shelf, the rear panel behind that, which reveals the fuel tank area and the mounting area of the bars.

Then carefully measure where they will sit without fouling the hood and then you will need to drill a box section of the rear chassis to allow the threaded nut to go through.

They are bolted onto this box section from underneath , which is tricky enough because of limmited space, a good quality ratchet set is needed here.

Thats mostly part of it, and then piece her all back together. (y)

These bars are for cosmetic use only, i,d say the ones i have used are of good quality and fitment, and can be ligned up with the headrests The ones found on ebay are ok and easy to fit, but as ive seen dont seem to lign up correctly and are smaller. Just my opinion though.

Any cosmetic roll bar may have the following issues attached.

1) Fiat may my claim you have modified the structure of their design and safety testing and wash their hands of any liability in the event of any claim for injuries.

2) Said bars my cause more damage to occupants in the even of a roll

3) Fiat offical accessory rear wind screen/deflector my not fit.

Personally I would fit a full race roll cage were I concerned about safety in the even of a roll.

Anything else is cosmetic and on the grounds of safety would only ever fit chromed rubber or air inflated items.

"Come squeeze my roll bar" perfect introduction ......................

Despite what I posted, I look at all the negative, opt out, etc. etc. positions and then make hopefully an informed decision.

Sadly many dive in blind and *may* live to regret it.

My standpoint is "everybody is against you and will **ck you if they can" versus "get on and enjoy your life/car without taking uneccessary risk".

Where you draw your own line is where you stand or fall when **** happens.

if **** ever happens.............? ? ?
