Went to start the B this morning after 14 days of non-use but the battery was flat.
I usually remove the radio fascia when leaving the car for more than a few days as someone told me that leaving it on drains the battery. I forgot to do this last time I used the car and when the battery went dead on another occasion I think I had left the fascia on.
I have left the car in the garage with it off for much longer with no problems. My question is does leaving the fascia on drain the battery? Any of you techies out there able to help please?

Have you got a multimeter? Disconnect the negative side of the battery and put the ammeter between the cable and the battery terminal, this will tell you the current drain on the battery, try it with the facia on and off, it will tell you. Facias can drain batteries if they have lights that stay on (like my motorola one in the MG) but the drain is so small it takes weeks and weeks to cause any serious problems - if the battery is in good health

Thanks Topher and Doc. I will try with the multimeter but there are no lights on the radio that stay on when it is switched off.

The battery is about 28 months old (replaced before I got the car) but it looks a bit small and puny and does not take up all of the room on the battery tray. There is no marking on the battery to say what size it is but what size and make would you recommend as it might be best to replace it.

SOmeone is coming around to look at mine later on, I will check what battery I put in when I lift the bonnet
