Technical Headlight removal

this is a easy job to do, but is does intale removing the front bumper which is secured with 4 bolts but you would only need to loosen them and not take them off completly.

1st, there may be some small cross screws that hold the front inner black plastic arches to the front bumper, remove these screws just to unatach the arches and then get yr head right under the B and look into the inner arches where you should see the 4 locating bolts that hold the bumper.

2nd, i think these bolts are 15 or 17mm and you should be able to get to them with a ratchet and socket or better still a ratchet spanner. when these have been loosened the bumper will just pull away, but you will need to disconnect the indicater connection plugs and if you have fog lights, the conectors for these too.

3rd with the bumper removed you will see the 10m bolts that hold the lights in place, remove these and yr lights will come out.

hope this helps, (y)

You can do it with out removing the front bumper. Being honest you really want to put the buper on when the lights are out, because you use the light holes to align the bumper cirrectly.

The best way to do it it to remove both front wheels.
Both front wheel arches.
Then you have access to the lights.
2 Bolts form the engine bay.
1 from the back of the unit.
And 1 from underneath. (Get a long extension for your socket set)

Easy job.

When you have removed the lights you will see the bumper mounts. A T shaped bar. I allign the bumper this way.

You can remove the bumper but then you will have to re-align it afterwards.

Be carfull once you have the lights out as the edges can be sharp and break easily. £150 per cover so be very carfull.

Doc did publish some pics on this forum.

Hi there,

I'm not trying to look bigheaded here but I removed my lights without removing the bumper or the wheels, had it out in 10 mins.. I'm sure this makes it easier but looks like more work to me. only 3 bolts hold the light on... underneath, inboard side and behind the light(bottom outboard)

Hi there, I wondered if you know how to remove the plastic inserts/reflectors within the headlights?

Thanks!

Not an easy job. The transparent cover is glued to the reflector case and it is necessary to separate the two in order to remove the insert. Seems it takes lots of work to cut through the glue and to remove glue remains afterwards.

Check the photo guide on a Polish site: http://barchetta-lexikon.pl/index.php?nazwa=102

If it is a matter of cleaning the lamp from the inside, it may be done without disassembling. If you are planning to paint the inserts, however, my advice would be to reconsider.
