Thanks HP. My only gripe is I don't want to have to change it so soon. I would rather it lasted 5+ years.

From what I've read, the weight of the exhaust systems means they tend to break - even the stainless steel replacements. Perhaps the way to go is a lightweight custom system - insurance permitting.

Hi guys, I rang my insurance company today and they do accept modifications after all! When I was getting the quote it specifically said no modifications so I don't know what has happened there. Anyway they quoted me £225.73 per annum for a change of exhaust regardless even if it was an OE spec in stainless. So I think I will replace it with the OE mild steel unit. Thank you all for your contribution, I will keep within the law and my policy contract. There are a couple going on Ebay for £200 including postage so I will snap one of them up.
