After a prolonged stay in Athens for the hols I just returned to Corfu. Yes I took the B with me and she fared beautifully! Heavy traffic, journey, everything I threw at her she took it like a trooper!
Before I had left i ordered this gizmo from Henk at barchetta parts for the windows noise etc. I am wondering if anyone has used it and whether anyone has any tips for the installation since the site is in Dutch and Henk kindly told me he couldnt be asked to translate it.... I think I have the gist of how to do it but some extra advice never harmed anyone! Do both plastic blocks need to be replaced on each door?

the instrucitons can be found here: http://www.fiatbarchetta.nl/html/raamgeleiders.html

what i got from henk was the the white plastic bit and three screws.. the attached pic is low quality i know but I have no digicam since the last one drowned...
what i think should be done is the old one must be drilled out and the new one screwed in, what i am curious is whether i should change both of them or one is enough...:hm:

i think he talking about the plastic window guides on the regulater, the standard ones fitted tend to snap very easy when one has pushed on the window to close the door, Hence the window does not close close up to the rubbers making wind noise. When these guides are intact the window can be fully adjusted to close tightly on the window rubbers and no or very lttle noise is heard.

Hi, you would want to change both so as full adjustments can be made, these control how the window can set to close .

soory, maybe that was not clear, These blocks are whats used to make necessary adjustments on the window regulater, the standard ones fiat used are very weak and usually break, snap when one has pushed the window to close the doors, Henks replcement blocks are much tougher and dont snap or break.

It isn't clear from the text if it's the old or new that need drilling.

"Drill the rivets out, so that the coast substance part of steel comes away"

OK. i rewrite those strange words into "Google translates" and here are results, now I need someone to make a sence from those translates. any volunteers? some words cannot be translate due tip-feelers, but you will understand it from the context.

The isolation of the window, here afgebeeid, the first confirmation by the up and down voar BEWAG of the diamond is the nut to get access.

This guide has not missed the tab.

Here is the confirmation of the rear window. If both are loose, remove the glass and carefully put away.

Druk de twee geleiders uit de houder
Press the two conductors from the cradle

Koppel deze steker los
Link this plug loose

Draai nu alle bevestiginsmoeren los (vijf stuks)
Tighten all loose bolts (five pieces

Haal nu alles los is gemaakt eerst da achterste geleider eruit.
Get everything off da rear guide first made out

Daama the front and see the whole mechanism.

Wip the lip with a screwdriver and put up a piece of for example, a rod below. Do this on all four lips.

Duw het middendeel neer binnen. Hierdoor wordt de kabel ontspannen.
Push down in the middle. This will relax the cable.

Remove the pieces of rod loops come back and fix it with a grip pliers.

Now the cable is relaxed, skip over this with a pulley schroevendraaler. Daama lets the cable from the guide block out.

Here you see that the right tab is truncated. Please note that the two are the bottom of the door.

Drill the popnagels out, so that the coastal part of the steel dust loose Komite.

Here you can see how the conductor cables in the box seat.

Het nieuwe blokje wordt geschroefd ipv gepopnagelt.
The new block is screwed gepopnagelt instead.

Cut with a zijkniptang a small corner of the two rubbertjes. Dif makes it so easy to slide the guide block. Now you can go in pushing the block.

Haak het blokje weer over de geleiderrail.
Hook the box about the guide rail.

Plaats de staalkabels weer in daarvoor bedoelde uitsparingen.
Place the steel cables in membership slots.

Pay attention to the order, one cable has a notch lower than in the other.

Steel back on the block with the help of the screwdriver.

the mechanism can in reverse order are restored.

the geleiderail, but the nuts have not tighten. Place the glass again, let someone hold it in the hoogaste state. Tighten the nuts daasma of the guide rails em stem the diamond daama well.

I got similar results from a site... i ve spotted a b in Corfu with dutch plates on, i might try and track it down and speak to the owner... might be able to give a helping hand i hope... either way if i have to change both plastic bits on each door i will have to wait till Henk gets back from holiday and order another plastic block...:bang::bang:

Well, Google is wrong on a couple of words and the text uses abbreviations but I can't see anything that's there and not in the pictures which would tell you if both need going.

I think it's a matter of replacing what's broken, don't you?

Hi guys
I'm thinking to order this parts...but they arent that cheap...170 Eur =4 pieces + shipping ..for some plastic ..
but I do need them...what has been done on my car is that the plastic side which broke was replaced with metal **** (n) by prev owner...totaly bad ideea (well the windows slide..not so nice, and they are not as tight as it should be - and the adjustments aren't so bad...but still at 120Km/h noise start). but I could try to find some plastic material and try to make something - not one of the best options
-anyone has a better ideea?

if you want ot be patient till Henk comes back from his holidas and I order another block so I change one side then I will give feedback on the blocks and see if it is worth spending the cash.

I've been trying to get my windows to sit in the seals against the windscreen, but it appears to be the hood seals around the top and rear parts of the glass that push the glass away before it can get into the groove at the front as you close the door.

With a tiny amount of pressure in the right places, they will sit in and run quietly. There doesn't apear to be much play in the glass.

HP...I got the same problem :( and even after adjusting the windows many times still the window doesn't get where it should especially the driver's side -and when dirving ...no way to get the window on it's place . And te problem is with the window regulators - window plastic travel guides which are either broken or as in my case replaced with metal part :bang: (the part number is 51742725 & 6) even though there is not too much play in the glas...it is enough. Anyone knows the price for the part at Fiat? I'm thinking to buy at least 2 of them from Henk for the front of the door and as for the back..I'll figure out some patch as (170EUR for bit of plastic ain't cheap).
I'll admit that if this will fix the noise problem...I will miss it :) as for more then 1 year I've been driving like that ...the best "sound" is above 170Km/h ...

Looking at how the seals on mine sit against the windscreen frame, I wonder if a new seal might be in order to fix my problem?

Doesn't look ike an easy job though!

No I don't think it will fix it :( and it isn't a easy job to adjust them...but you'll get it eventually after more tries (y) good luck

I have been checking out some other convertibles (yes I am the weird bloke that has a close look at the seals as soon as i spot one)!!! If we all get our colective skills together couldnt we design something new? Like rubbers with a little lip that the top of the window locks into? similar to the windshield rubber? Faust any ideas?! If we come up with something then I think there are enough of us out there to actually get the rubbers into production...
