Both the driver's and passenger's floor have large splits in them. I think they are also letting in a lot of dampness. Any ideas what I could do? How much are replacements? And where could I get them? Alternatively I was thinking about sealing them with some silicone.

Hi, Tony... i have same problem also... a big High Heel Hole (HHH syndrome, previous owner was a girl) starts to spread under gas pedal + other few cracks...
i have 2 options
1. dried it out, clean it and re-trim it with some strong water proof non-slip material.
2. create floor from fiberglass + floor carpet.

i will go for second option because it will be waterproof like boat and there will be no place for dampness again. but... I always have weird ideas...

it's not hard to remove floor, you have to remove seats (UNPLUG THE BLOODY BATTERY BEFORE), remove plastic covers around and take it out... i didn't do that before but it's more/less like that. there is some thread about floor removing...

Easiest and cheapest repair is to buy a small rubber car floor mat from Halfords or the like and glue it in place with high impact adhesive making sure all the edges are carefully sealed to prevent ingress of water. It worked for me and looks quite smart, as if it was made like that when the car was built.
Season's Greetings to you all.

I manage to fix everything. I didn't completely remove the floor pan, but I did remove enough stuff so I could get under it with a hair dryer. I completely dried all the foam on both sides, sealed the cracks on the passenger's side with black silicon and refitted the little plastic cover one the floor- making sure it was sealed with silicon too.

As for the driver's side, the cracking was much worse. I had to remove some of the foam from underneath, put in a shaped piece of wood to keep the floor solid, and the re seal everything. Long story short, job done!

It took the best part of a day. If you need to ask any question, feel free!

I managed toget a new floor from E-Bay €1 cost £25 delivery but a good deal all the same.

I will remove and replace mine as I have many splits and the floor is soaked.

Any tips for sealing or upgrading?

Thanks

before fitting new floor it will be good to give a good clean and smear tin with some anti-rust thing... or/and coat that bottom with some like a Dynamat for
preventing noise...

You're going to need to do a lot more dismantling than I did to get that new floor fitted in one piece. However, it probably is possible. I would recommend you are very careful when fitting the small plastic covers after the new floor is down, as they seem to be the weak point. Also, get a tube of silicon (the real silicon, not some alternative) to seal around any holes in the floor too - that will stop water sneaking in there and weakening things again. The Barchetta is quite an easy car to work on though but a good tip is; put the windows and the roof down as it'll give you a lot more space to work.

If you get stuck at any point just let me know, I'll do my best to help you out.

I've not ventured underneath the 'B' flooring but from previous experience with other Fiats then once water gets in it is very difficulat to dry out. Many Fiats use 100% waterproof top carpet then bitumen topped felt backed undermats. It is the felt that really soaks the water and condensation up like a mop.

My solution (not really cheap) is to replace the underlay felts mats with Close Cell Neoprene mats/sheets. Any good rubber company will be able to supply this material. It is easy to cut and shape, comes in various thicknesses and does not absorbe water. Is also a good sound insulator and moulds itself to the floor pan. Also gives good underfoot feal, although this last point is not really relevant for a 'B'.

I have the total floor well the plastic & underlay, I will remove soon and strip the old flooring down to the the metal \ painted parts. Just after some tips to protect it more. My B was stood for 12 months before I bought her with holes in the roof so the floor underneath is soaked. When I replace it all shall be fine as I have sealed the holes that water used to get in. Phew!!!!!!

F4ust (What are you mentioning???) sounds intersting.... But remember in the uk we may not have it so explain as much as you can. (THANKS)

I have taken out the cover behind the seats to create a speaker wall (also 2kgs weight saving) so thats gone. I will create a middle \ wind stop all in one thingy... (Pics will follow) Taken from the dodge viper interior 2006 model. I had mad ideas that may turn into reality.

Car has shed 40kgs in weight so far......:yum: 1098 stock and I plan to get her under 1000kgs - only to save fuel and get her to slide when I drive her hard. She sticks to the road all to well being front wheel + 17"s on her.

Hard to slide her....

Nino, Dynamat is a sound proofing material. I also believe the entire body of the B is rust proof, but I may be wrong. I'm inpressed you've managed to shed so much weight already! Can't wait to see this 'Dodge Viper' idea, please elaborate!

Nick, sounds like you're doing a great job! Neoprene is _extremely_ expensive, but one of the best sound insulators available. I use it quite a lot for work. Although, I recommend you try and stiffen the floor as much as possible, as it's slight flexibility is what leads to cracking / weakness.

Cheers (Funkstar De Luxe)

This pic shows what I am thinking about.
The middle section between the seats.

Funkstar De Luxe explain about Dynamat, this is sound prof material and can paralyze thin sheet on doors.
looks like we have same ideas... only have to wait for better weather...

I'll look for this stuff, cheers all. I like you am waiting for a dry week when I can do all this. I want to totally rebuild the interior centre console as that LCD Clock is €75, which I am not paying. Unless anyone knows another Fiat that has this clock, often parts are cheaper. The B is modelled on a Punto Mk2 so I look to see if the mechanics are the same and often pay loads less for the same part.

So I plan to make something for the centre from the back going forward. Then covering it in leather.

Should be fun or look a total mess.

I got mine for a few €s on eBay. AFAIK there are some som other Fiats and Lancias that have the same clock (not that I can remember which models )
