Any ideas what it can be? It sounds different from the fuel pump but it is a mechanical click click, starts as soon as I turn the key but stops after about 20 mins!! sounds louder in the car than outside, :confused:

Chris

i can't help you but... do you have aircon? before i have fiat brava with aircon and when i turn on aircon and switch that plug for air flow (inside-outside) then some clickering sound appears... like some leapting gear. or you are hearing some relays that are under dashboard. you may hear some click-noise when you switch fog lights... i hear some silent tktktktktktk when i press gass pedale... but i don't believe you will hear those relays from outside... from where the sound is coming? :confused:

:)Yup, its the wiper relay that sits under the cover between the bonnet and the windowscreen, it looks like this;

and it sits here;

Its a very easy job to fix but might be caused by the spindles on the wipers beginning to rust which means you need to remove the wiper arms and mechanism, strip it all down, clean it up with a bit of sandpaper, apply some copper grease and then put it all together again - easy but a few hours work!

HTH, if you need any more info let me know.

hello.

i had the very same problem.

the help i got on here was great but it was a shame about fiat.

i tried to get a new relay, 3 attempts later i gave up. barchettaparts.com have some secondhand ones but i needed mine quick.

if you can unsolder the capacitor in the circuit and test this. that was the problem in mine, 14 pence later and it was solved.

i also striped the wiper arms and found a little corrosion but not much, worth checking though.

My wipers are doing crazy thinks, today was the first rain of the year and they stopped working.
Anyway, i tooked out the wiper relay removed the moisture with a hairdrier and tried again.
It worked for a second and after that it stopped.
Should I change the wiper relay?
How much is for a new one...?

maybe this relay will fit from some other car...

also when you open that cover you should clean it and lubricate joints. i use sand paper to clean levers and repaint them... if you will try to remove levers, on every joint is some big black plastic "screw" that have some rotation protection from below. so first you have to release that protection and then turn that screw to remove levers. so do not just turn that scew....

That was the case..
I changed the capacitor and everything is working now...:)
Pretty easy, you can do it at any electronic (tv,radio..)
The capacitors by nature fail over time, so even if you buy a used one, you 'll have the same problem...
