Technical Hood rubbers dilemma

yeah, it's easier to connect something with rivet than with screws...
there are some tools for rivet removing tools, but I did not have a chance to work with them... probably the best solution is to drill them...

You don't have to go mad with the drill you just basically remove the head then it can be pushed out So you don't have to make the hole wider. They would have only drilled it bigger than the screw if they didn't have rivets small enough so you may be able to still fit one. If you can't, call them up and ask why they f**ked your frame.

All in all it's not a huge problem you can buy a small kit for a couple of quid.

It's cheap quality but will do the job if you have to re-rivet them on (may find them much cheaper at your local market)......

Yep definatly pop rivets.... :bang: As F4usT pics show that is the best method of removing them. only thing I would add is that if the metal stalk is still visible in the hole knock it out first with a pin punch. You will not be able to drill through the centre of the rivit with this still there, It's as hard as hell !!

Also to remove the rivet head a small chisel works well after you have drilled down the depth of the rivet head.....

Good luck

glad to help...
how things are going with this barchetta, soon we will discuss how to break atoms or how to improve fusion in the catalyst using plasma voltage converter with a spiral of hoover or hairdryer... mumbling...
anyway, you can't be bored with barchetta. :D

Got those rivets out (see pic). Not sure about fitting a screw back in as it doesn't really have anything to screw in to - just a hole. Maybe rivet the new ones on again. I still have the old rubbers on at the moment as it started to rain. Waiting for a dry spell when I am not working.

I don't suppose there is a guide for removal / refitting of the tonneau seal? Wish there was a proper manual - the PDF's I downloaded are pretty rubbish.

Of course there is.......Pull the old one off, push the new one on ;) yep it really is that easy.....But if you want to go super slick you could smear a very little coating of grease or talc powder on the inside of the seal so it pushes on easier. Either end of the cover seal slides into the door seal.

Sorry for asking for help all the time but I need help - again. I have fitted the seal around the toneau cover and fitted the smaller two hood seals but cannot get the longer seal back on. I am talking about the the one closest to the rear of the car.

Can anyone offer any advice on how to get this rubber back on? It is quite a tight spot to get to and has a small bend to get round.

Ah! this one.....

If you haven't tried fold the roof halfway first. and put a smear of talc on the bit that rubs on the roof material which is the reason it's harder to get on also put a little grease on the metal runner that it slides on too.

yes thats the one. I have tried to slide it on with the roof half folded but its a real squeeze. I have been practicing with the old one that I removes. It sort of bends to start with before moving straight.

I got the first bit on (just about 6cm) then it stuck. I tried talk and a little vaseline on the metal. Had to give up in the end as the roof was starting to freeze.

Took the canvas covers off the seats today. They were starting to look slightly grubby and I can't keep pretending to myself that not having leather seats is going to be okay - it isn't.

Rubbers are all fitted but drivers side glass does not line up properly which is how water can get in. The first pic is the other side which seals nicely and the second pic shows the drivers side. It actually looks as if the glass is pushed out slightly when the door is closed.

I have looked up old threads on glass adjustment. Don't think I could do this myself - I had a hard enough time getting the door cards on and off last time I tried. Has anyone tried adjusting the glass and would you recommend this as a solution?
