Im researching right now for doing a engine swap for my B.

Is the engine layout as in mounts, tranny, etc of the B the same as that in a punto? Are they the exact layout? since punto also comes in a 1.8...

Popular choice is the 4 cyl turbo 2.0 from the Fiat Coupe apparently it fits fine. If you can get a decent one as coupes ceased production in 2000. Strangely enough the 1.8 'economy' LHD version of the coupe got the Barchetta engine in 1997-98. Later 5cyl 2.0 either turbo or non-turbo won't fit as its too tall. There was something on the coupe forum a while back about fitting 'modern' 2.0 Alfa motors to the coupe...could be an option for you as they are normally the same block with different heads.
