Suzuki?? Hell no! Spare rear lights - yes please! Mine is pretty foggy. ;) Do they leak?

Drive a van? Why would I do that when I have a barchetta to drive? Do you prefer a van?

Well for what its worth in MHO (not a lot) I think the thought of a B towing is (n). Dunno about Norway but here you'd have some choice comments from the natives and I agree..the combination would look ridiculous.

Bit like the Maserati I saw in Surrey towing a horse box...

I'd worry about being looked on as Noddy's younger brother.

I suggested the van 'cos you could take the car in it, sleep in it. Put the tools in it etc etc..Hell if it was a new Transit then you'd get 2 B's and a team of factory mechanics in there as well.

If I cared about what other people think, would I be driving a Fiat? ;) And what's wrong with a Maserati being used? Even though it's an extremely good looking car, and not exactly built for towing, why not use it when you have one? I've never seen one, but I sure want to see a beautiful Quattroporte with a horse box at it's tail rather than just another boring van.

I knew this would get a lot of protests, but what I want to know is just what tow bar is easiest to fit. Really no need to go "nonononono" as I won't listen anyway. :D

Alan: Thanks for the guide! But isn't it more likely that the barchetta is the same as the Punto mk1, rather than mk2? Or maybe they are all pretty much the same..?

Punto that the guide is for is 94-> (is that not the Mk1?) so I assumed that it was based on the same chassis since the B was made from late 94/early 95. I looked through all the major tow bar manufacturers and not one list a tow bar for the barchetta, you will also find that the detachable bars are usually about 3 times the price of a normal bar and as already said before you won't be able to hide the wiring plugs even if you can remove the towball.

Looks like your going to be as stuborn as the wife about it so wish you luck :) I also have some spare rear lights.

Oh! just remembered that I had some involvement on a topic re the Punto and towbars a few days ago...https://www.fiatforum.com/punto/153620-attaching-tow-bar-2.html

Someone argued that the Punto was unsuitable for towing because of the rear subframe set up. I had a discussion with Just-tow who supplied my towbar for the new panda a few months ago. They stated that some models needed a strenthening kit which would be included when the towbar was ordered. If you were pulling light trailers etc I wouldn't be inclined to be that worried but when you get to pulling caravans, cars etc it's a different matter. Depending on the year the total pulling weight will be on the chassis plate and/or the log book. If you didn't know already (I'll for this instance assume you don't) if it's on the chassis plate it's train weight minus the weight of the car gives you your total pulling weight. Also remember that anything heavier than 750kg needs to be braked unless stipulated on the log book. Max weight on the towball I think is 50kg that is easilly altered by adjusting the position of the axle so the weight is ballanced, if done correctly you can have that to virtually 0kg's

Ok, Alan. I noticed it says "Punto 99-" on top of the sheet, but maybe it's the same for all Puntos, then. My mother drives a Punto mk2, so I will have a look when I get home in a few weeks. Thanks again!

Thanks again! I don't think the strengthening is nessecary for me. I've checked how much my bee can drag, and it's 450 kg, both with and without brakes on the trailer. Max load is 35 kg. If this idea ever becomes a reality I'm aiming for under 300 kg and as little load as possible. I guess I'm gonna build everything myself, including the subframe, so I can adjust everything just the way I like it. Probably use a barchetta og possibly an Uno rear axle and make a custom frame.

The teardrop caravan certainly sounds like the Swift w/teardrop caravan on Autofil... It's even red :)

I don't know if the lights leak. I bought them from Henk to fit on the original shaped rear bumper I ordered (and payed for, and didn't receive :bang:), but as I don't have the rear I never got to fit them. I'm assuming they're in good shape.

Ah, I didn't read what you wrote good enough. I was thinking about the other lights, not those in the bumper. But I'm always interested in barchettaparts. ;) Are you going to ID?

Haven't seen the Swift, sounds spooky.. Don't wanna be an Autofil rip-off! :(

What with the UK postage rates I think you'd be hard pressed to sell anything to abroad at any rate :p (I'm paying £55 to have two discs shipped over...:shakehead:)

Haven't got many spare parts lying around; just those two rear lights, 3 original alloys, a passenger side door card, the original springs and a switch for the front fogs. If you want any of that sh*t cheap just send me a PM :)

Nah, don't think I'll be going to ID; I've spent too much money on my B now so the boss wouldn't allow me to spend more on car related stuff

Oh, and the Swift does look rather good with the caravan, although you wouldn't want to be associated with Larsen as he's a giggling :tosser:

200+ italian cars at Vålerbanen (a race track). Including a lot of Ducatis and other italian forms of art.

Italiensk dag = italian day.

Robot, you really need an address in the UK where you can have stuff delivered..(*) and every now and then you take the Stavanger-Newcastle ferry to come pick it all up.
Althou, i admit that in the current season a return ticket on the DFDS ferry would cost approx £ 800....
Maybe best befriend someone working on the DFDS ferry... so they can carry stuff for you :)
And that would give you an excuse to hang out in sailors bars in the harbour

(*) Newcastle isn't that far away from the Scottish border :)
