Technical My strutbrace does not fit

I Got a 99/2000 Had the same prob with strutbracer fowling the air intake, there doesnt seem a way round it with this strut.

To help other like me who are considering a strut brace, how about those of you who have one fitted, telling us what model and year it's fitted to, ABS or not, and what type? Oh and does it make any difference to handling, scuttle shake etc!

95 model B with airflow meter and abs and used a sparco strut brace.

the other is the same engine with a turbo but the cheaper style strut brace.

Hi
You can see the probs we are faceing. My B is 1999/2000 lido, strutbrase supplied by strutbracer. It Seems my air intake is at least six inches higher than others pictured. I was thinking of packing the fixings of the strtbrace with washers to higher it, however can`t make up my mind if this is a good idea. You will notice it also fowels in a second place on the injection conectors.

I think the answer may be a ten pound sledge hammer to straiten the SB and a couple of washers just to raise it suffitianly to clear the injction connectors.

Can someone enlighten me. The brace in Glendaleuk's pictures show an OMP brace with a kink in it which presumably means it is meant for a car with ABS. The car in the picture does not seem to have ABS which is perhaps why the brace does not fit.
I would like an OMP brace to replace the cheapskate chrome brace on my 97 B with ABS. If you look at the OMP brace on the company's web-site it looks exactly the same as the one in the pictures here BUT it states it is for non ABS cars. Anyone know the answer? I have sent the company an e-mail but waiting on reply.

Richpea : giving this subject a a little thought. I realize with this SB it would`nt make any difference if the b had abs or not because the main problem is the height and angle of the air intake which would still be fowled even if the SB was straight. It seems to me that OMP may not be aware of changes made to the air intake from 1999 on. This would explain the none fitting SB. However many of us are left with SB`s that are usless for our B`s.

More than likely, I thought the packaging had been opened LOL. One good thing though is because there is a bend in the SB it may be possible to bend it behind the air intake. It`s worth a try cause it has made a huge difference to stability in a straight line which was crap before. Has made no difference to body roll though which is frightening at speed. Which will have to be addressed at some point. Had my Mate hanging out the door the other day trying to counter the roll, abit like sidecar

Glenn. So what you have might fit a '97 UK supplied car with ABS. I will have a look at my air intake and compare it with the pictures you posted and depending on what strutbracer say, if they reply to my e-mail, may buy off them. Want to sell yours?

I`m gonna try and make mine fit. See if I can`t bend the SB behind the air intake, because it has extra metal for the kink there may just be enough to accomadate the air intake. In other words straightn it a bit.

Hope it works for you. Will let you know what strubracer say if they get back to me.
