Has anyone considered blueprinting a Barchetta engine as a route to better performance and longevity?

Anyone on here got any experience of blueprinting 4 stroke 4 cylinder car engines?

well, it everybody just stayed at home, and sit still with their handpalms flat on the table, the overall cost of law enforcement would be a lot lower, and then the accountants wouldn't be in charge :)

OH! Was told as a kid that they were built that way so as to be faster than the criminals cars. Friends or family cant remember who, must have been toying with with me. :shakehead:

Remember chasing a VW golf gti in a metro through the middle of Hackney, bloke eventually gave up as he couldn't get away :) (obviously a sh*t driver) he was a pretty decent lad just confused so didn't lock him up only reported him. He asked what engine the metro had, so told him just stock 1.1 he didn't believe me and was loosing face cause his mates were there, so showed him under the bonnet to prove it was just a 1.1 his mates started taking the pi$$ big time, think that was harder to swallow for him than the points he eventually got :D :D

Sounds interesting, but I can just feel my bank balance falling and hours of "free" time disappearing :)

As for jam sandwiches and chases: It seems these days it's one extreme to the other; either they'd be shot because only a terrorist would exceed the speed limit, or they'd be written a stern letter in case they were upset by direct confrontation and their human rights were broken.

Having worked for the UK government I don't envy Alan his job!

I thought they used to get tuned versions when they had the old jags and 3.5 rovers.

Diddnt the old police cars have bluprinted engines.

KC, If you dismantle both of your engines you could borrow some super accurate scales and choose the four best matched cylinders for your Turbo. In fact you could probably do this with a whole load of the reciprocating parts. Might give your turbo engine just a little more survivability at the higher end of the rev range. You could be quick like the police;)

given all the efford (and money) involved... would it not be easier to just buy an S2000 ? :D

Neither do I :)

There used to be a thing called police spec, whatever manufacturer would supply a car and it would be classed as police spec, this from what I can remember was the most basic interior available but would have uprated suspension and better tyres but still steel wheels. Never known of any engine mods but suppose in the old days it was probable.

Scottish forces bought loads of Lotus carltons when they came out, tuned enough probably :)

The very last of the SD1's were about when I joined in 1988, Rover were throwing all of the left over cars at the police in full Vanden plas trim, a member of the public saw an officer using the sunroof and complained so they welded them shut from then on :nutter:

Complained that the police should have such luxury, or complained about him hanging out of it at 70 on a motorway?

We should be told......

yeah, we should be, but they keep covering these things up!!
just like so many things... big rocks 500 miles across slam into the countryside on a daily basis, but the governement -with the aide of patrick Moore- hush it up!!! I've read it in Sunday Sports.!

We should be told! We've got the right to know! We pay taxes you know!!!

:D
