I'm going to get some work done on the front bumper and was thinking of getting rid of the tatty backing plate, I think the number plate would look better there on it's own, what have others done?

When I had the front bumber replaced on my previous b, I replaced the number plate with a stick-on one. I know this isn't legal now, but it looked *much* better than with the backing plate. It's generally reckoned that self-adhesive plates were banned due to people not spacing the letters correctly, so if you get one done properly you might get away with it. Whether it's worth the risk is not is up to you...
Get the number paint painted onto the bumper then get the clear coat put on.
I have a motor bike sized front number plate mounted directly on the bumper with 3M super sticky pads, looks much better!

When I had mine repaired got rid of the backing plate think it looks better....

Thanks Lads backing plate off it will B then. LRB you would be pulled up here for a no plate that size!!

I know, I do have a full sized one in the boot just in case.................even worked out an excuse along the lines of 'it fell off about an hour ago so the show plate is still in place, just going to Halfrauds to pick up some stickies'.....
He's been lucky so far Chris, but will his luck will run out sometime and he can have another I T Y S....
Police in the Thames Valley have lots more to worry about than a very slightly smaller than standard number plate....................that said knowing my luck

Nothing. I think the plate is a bit too slanty without it. I can see the appeal of a smaller plate though
I reckon I might go for one of these stick on ones. Used to look ace on my old mini and only 14 quid

That's what I was planning, de-badge and a sticky plate...would look very retro.

Here's my take on the number plate. Will look better once I've filled the old holes and sprayed the bumper:
I do like that mate would be a toss up between the two but yours would be the legal one of the two...
