Well game over chaps , driving up the road this morning a nice man swerved to avoid something and re-designed the side of my car with a citreon c3.

I am missing a wing mirror damaged front qtr, door damaged, back qtr damaged oh and just to top it off I had to pull his side trim out of the back bumper.

It still drives fine but I really dont want the news from the insurance company. Has anyone had major boday work done by an insurance company or do they just say no thanks and write it off :(

photos to follow when I calm down.

Gutted for you, have been in exile from here since my yellow barchetta died on me, just nfinshed reading about the pheasant and then saw this.

Hope they don't write her off mate.

 So sorry to hear about the accident Watty2000. Someone smashed the back of my B at a roundabout in March. Now its repaired you wouldn't know it had been hit. I was devastated at the time and thought it would be written-off as it was £ thousands of damage.

Cross your fingers and get it priced up at your insurers repair place. They reckoned the market value they would pay if mine was written off was about £3,500-4,000 but it doesn't take into account the extras and time spent with it. I now feel lucky but everyday on the road with all those idiots driving around is a risk.

Good luck. Really hope your B lives on.

sorry man,

seems to be turning out one of those weeks that the local wildlife doesn't agree with you, the guy probably swerved to avoid a pheasant.

If not "vital" is hit, then it is repairable, you can even get the front bumper sorted out if the insurance is paying :)

In any case, just try to convince the insurance co that repair & respray cost is less then the market value remaining.

Sorry to hear that, a sad day :-(

I thought you could force them to repair it if it wasn't your fault and if that's what you want.

FFS :bang:

So sorry to hear that Steven, even if they do want to write it off you can fight it or buy the car back after the payout, just try to stick to your guns and be firm and they may sway, but they may not. Also when you do your initil report state that you are enthusiast looked for years to find the right Barchetta eventually got a special eddition almost impossible to replace, send loads of pics with it looking at it's very best and ask for an auto engineer to give full valuation rather than the usual yts saying write off......

Best of luck it is a very very nice barchetta.

Sorry to hear your bad news m8 that sucks. It might not be as bad as you think, if the car only hit the side skin it might not have stuffed to much on the inside.

The door is not an issue and the front wing is work but not to much of a problem if the headight area is not smashed up. The thing to look at is the rear wing as its a load of work fitting a new one so will ramp up the bill. While you are at it you will need to have the car painted but look at this as a plus as it will give you a nice clean fresh looking B.

I will need to see some pics but I think you might be in luck with this one. Get some pics up ASAP m8.

Nightmare watty. Really bad news. Hope it gets sorted out ok for you....if they write it off and you want another, pm me. cheers

 Oh man I don't believe this. Just logged on and your thread was the first I saw - for a couple of seconds my blood ran cold! :(

Don't fret until you get the estimation back, you might be surprised at what they will repair. When I first saw Noddy, erm - sorry nicholasb's piccies I thought that they may write it off due to the rear panel damage but its now as sparkly as new.

Also, you may be able to swing the new front bumper out of it! Difficult to say without seeing the damage but you might be able to convince the engineer that the bumper was moved out of shape and cracked.

Really sorry to hear your news but optimistic that you may get her back!

As for the rest of you, be careful out there and don't add to the accident stat's - the b is expensive enough to insure without you lot bumping the premiums up!!

A big thank you to everyone showing concern I have been in such a bad mood all day. I personally think it should be repairable as it wasnt hit side on the car just drove down the side of it:bang:. I will get picks of it tommorrow when I have calmed down:eek:. The back bumper is destroyed and I am not too sure where it stands when you have to repair the backend as that is bent. I will make up a good story and get the front bumper replaced hopefully. If the worst comes to the worst I will let everyone know how much the insurance company wants for it if they right it off. It still drives perfectly well and there is all the riviera bits that everyone will want to fight over plus a brand new mohair roof. But I can only pray that it will be fixed or I will be a very unhappy bunny

thanks again to all :worship:

If it gets written off, buy it back, stockpile parts as/when they come up on eBay, save some wedge and get a local bodyshop put it back together for you - don't break it! There are few enough Riviera's about as it is!

Tomorrow is another day, hopefully things will seem better in the morning!
