I,m getting a new hood fitted next week mohair in black, I put a crack right across my window on monday to cold to fold the hood so i did it anyway:bang: So how do I stop that happening again? £ 600 is a lot to spend every time there is a frost! do you drive it for a while with the heater on then drop the hood or do you just keep the hood up even in the winter sun? The B really comes into its own with the wind in your hair!

I usually run mine for 10 mins with the heater full on while parked outside the house before putting the hood down on a chilly day, also try to park it in the sun!!

Once the hood is down put a bit of pipe insulation (about £0.80 for a meter from Wickes) in the fold of the screen while the hood is down - and ALWAYS use the securing hooks otherwise the hood jumps around under the cover and can create wear marks.......

Was your old hood quite worn anyway? The new hood will look better than PVC. £600 sounds quite expensive to me. I got my mohair replacement for about £200 and had it fitted for £100 by a local car trim specialist.

The old hood would have done me for another 12 months at a push, it had been repaired once before and I had made a temp repair in the window which would have lasted maybe a year , I got the new hood from BAS for £293 ( cheaper than Car hoods direct just) and fitted up here by a recommended company for £250 which seemed a bit steep, DTR would have done it for £60 less but then I would have had to travel from Leeds, so all in all I'm OK with the price, I did dither though between vinyl and mohair but went for mohair in the end, I,m planning on keeping her (B) so that made up my mind for me.

I replaced mine a few weeks after I got my b. I paid £450 for supply and fit for a black mohair roof. It was done by a local fitter and it looks 100 times better than the cracked faded red pvc roof I had. If you are planning on keeping the car mohair is the way to go :)

Any reason you didnt want to stick with the red roof Watty? They do seem to fade and look well crap after a while I admit. You could have gone for a white roof, like the aqua blue B on ebay not so long ago..... :D

And gone the whole hog and got your seats trimmed in white leather....

then again.

Take it you don't like the idea then :p

Could open a whole new thread to "interesting" options. What about putting a partial Starsky and Hutch stripe down the sides of yours? (y)

I had the choice of any colour but the guy I went recomended i stick to black. He said and I agreed with him that the red looks great for about six months then it fades and looks a bit crap.:(
