Fitted the dual fans in today. Not a difficult mod but not without its problems.

Firstly removing the existing fan consists of 4 10mm bolts, two on top and two at the bottom.

One of them was rusty and of course, sheared off on me.

There's a wirring loom that just unplugs so off comes the fan.

The dual fans come with a different loom plug as they have a slow and fast speed, but I cut this off and bi wired both fans so as to kick in together and then used the old loom connector.

Fitting the dual fans is a little more tricky. You will need to undo the top rad hoses as to slide the new fans into place.

It fits as did the orriginal fan but with the addition of three more 10mm bolts.

Refit the top hose, top up water levels and thats it. :D

Nice work, love the blue hoses and cover (y)

I've got the dual fans, becuz i've got airco, but it will be interesting to see how you get them on

while you're at it, throw away the heatshield, its cracked and WILL rattle
you could try to fix it, but apart from migwelding a few metal strips or glueing tinfoil over the crack i wouldn't see how :)

I know my heat shield is cracked, has been for a while now, but i would like to replace it with the better, stronger type. Just havent been able to find one.

The fans are simple enough to fit but i do have a minor issue with the fuse blowing on me once. could be a load problem but will look into it again tommorow. (y)

Unless you have already bought the plug's I would go for a set of Denso's - IK20's are the ones for the b (I believe)..........

I see what you are doing!! Stick all of your money in the car so that the missus cannot get at it

idea about passenger side door panel with pocket... heres mine, picture is from driver side but it is same on passenger...

yes, but do not need glue, you just remove old, and nail this new material with "double nails", or should I say "U" nails... btw: here are picture of my seats. (btw: they are same color)
