For those with very early B's ,

not sure if you were aware that the early B's were fitted with lucas front calipers, these are slightly smaller than the newer ones which i'd imagine must be better for them to have changed them.

Bigger caliper- bigger pad. BETTER BRAKING!

Anyway, talking to the spares guy at fiats, i can see no problem with them being upgraded to the later ones.

You would need the new style caliper but also the part that the caliper mounts to. SORRY! i forget what he called this.

Will be something i will be changing.

Not sure if it would be an issue but check the diameter of the hoses reservoir etc. If the pistons/cylinders in the later callipers are bigger than the original ones they may require more fluid to operate. I am sure that it would not be the case with the b but a few years ago I fitted a set of Brembo racing callipers/discs etc to a Morgan plus 8 which included fitting new brake lines, brake hoses, etc as the new callipers required significantly more fluid to work than the original ones.

As I say I am sure that this would not be the case with the b but worth checking. On the subject of additional stopping power and brake fade I have found that since fitting grooved discs on the front I have not suffered from fade (y)
