to add to confusion:

dont forget that if you have foglights, they also use H1 bulbs, just like the main and dipped :)

so, if you want to go OTT, you can do a HID conversion on the dipped AND on the fogs :)

and put 100 Watts H1 rallybulbs in the main beams (because of their "warming-up" time HIDs are not very suited for "flashing")

Before fitting the HID's I upgraded my bulb's (although I have to admit I cannot remember what brand I used), I could not really notice the difference other than the fact that they cost about £25!!

The main/dipped/fog's are all H1 bulb's, the side lights are 501 bayonet fitting.

55w H1s are what you want to be 100% legal.

:yeahthat:

Although, I had to follow my missus for about 60 miles the other day, a lot of it through unlit roads at night. She commented on the fact that my HID's were bright but in no way dazzling - I guess its a question of being 100% legal vs being able to see where you are going in the dark!!

The Barchetta has a projector design dipped headlight and that is the same as the HID OEM lights you get on new cars, because of this the HID light works well on the Barchetta.

Absolutely, after seeing the difference the HID's made to my car my wife asked if she could have a set on the Picasso! As the Picasso has the popular reflector type headlights they would not work, just blind people coming in the other direction...the same reason that the HID conversion would not be effective in the main beam on the b

Well, I've gone for the Osram Nightbreaker. Got four of them for a little under 30 quid.

I'll let you all know how I get on with them.

The projector design is very old now and was originally used only on very expensive cars they were ahead of their time re beam pattern on the road. If you put a set of standard lights against the projector type they were much brighter with a much more controlled pattern, it's only as time moves on and lights are becomming much more advanced, HID specifically that they now look dim and dated.

Agree with that. I sometimes use the company pool car..bog standard new Focus. Its lights are excellent, not HID and running on standard bulbs. I know which car I'd rather take fast down a twisty backroad at night..and the handling is pretty damn good for a repmobile as well.

Anybody tried these?

They're dirt cheap - and so am I :D

talking 'bout lightbulbs... i'm well miffed, the RightFront indicator blinked permanently to "out" last week.

No problems, buy a set of new indicator bulbs, and replace them over the w-e... NOT

i just can't reach it.. :bang:

took the ducting off (as stated in the booklet), and yes.. that will allow you access to the blinkers... but only if you've got very long and THIN arms (not mentioning 2 elbows and 3 wrists)
Only if you've got arms as thin as the circumference of a coke-can you can reach it. It is not that i have forearms like a spinach munching sailor, but there IS a bit more meat to them then macaroni sticks

Looks like i'll have to remove the bumper to replace a lightbulb :bang::bang::bang:

Anybody got the address of the designer of the B? I need to have a few words with him...

I just used some silicone lube on the blinker housing and pulled it out...
