I have ordered these Eibach EZ Camber bolts for my B.

It's been a long time now since I had it reported to me that the camber on left and right front wheels was unequal on my lowered car and these appear to be the solution.

Question is should have the car set up with neutral or slightly negative camber? Any opinions or experiences welcome.

I shall be off to MGC next week to get something fixed. I say something, I think I have this, it's an issue I have had intermittently since my first big long run in the car.

On the final leg of my journey home on Sunday the problem came back and doesn't seem to have gone away again - this is actually good because it at least it means the guys at the garage will have a fighting chance of making a diagnosis.

I shudder to think what the cost will be, but it will certainly set back my plans to fit coil overs that's for sure:(.

I managed to pickup a complete (and brand new) driveshaft and bearings on eBay fo £85 - keep your eye on eBay, might save you a bundle.

It's not a hard job to change a driveshaft, a bit fiddly and you need to undo lots of nuts and bolts but if you are slightly technically minded it is possible.

I have had my driveshafts off 4 times now, 3 times to change boots and once to replace the complete driveshaft assembly........if I can be arsed to do it you should be able to!

>>you need to undo lots of nuts and bolts<<

N/S
4 Wheel 'lug' bolts I then used the space saver wheel to gain access to staked central hub whilst undoing the BIG nut
1 Hub nut 36mm. I had to 'shave' a socket to fit the recess
1 Suspension leg bolt, loosen t'other
6 Drive Shaft Allen Bolts
Err That's it.

O/S I found both Susp Leg bolts (rusty as ever) needed to be removed, other than that. Roberts your Uncle, so it ain't over many n & b and I was keen to do it, yesterday in fact. I have a new MOT too to prove it.

New left side driveshaft going in on Monday. Hoping that will sort it. Slightly concerned that it won't, things are really troubling. Drove 10 miles last week and the steering wheel was wobbling the whole way:eek:.

On the strutbrace front I have had no luck buying from those sites that McKoval posted. But having seen that the Weichers sport one is very simple I plan to get a local fabricator to fix me up(y).

This Barchetta thing is a real long term obsession I am 2 years in (almost) and my list of jobs grows and grows with every month of ownership. Thankfully I still absolutely love the little red car.:slayer:

I meant to ask for a look so I could take a photo but I was in a rush and I forgot. If had the first clue about how driveshafts typically wear I would be happy, as always, to idly speculate. I'll do some reading and post my guesses here.

Done that reading here, I suspect the vibration was a secondary effect of a binding bearing at one end of the drive shaft or other.

This fits with the fact that the vibrations were always evident after a good thrash, probably exacerbated by the extra heat making the possibly insufficient lubricant too thin to do it's job with the warm worn surfaces?

Now where's that Sherlock Holmes smiley?

Goodbye.

The Barchetta is now sold so I don't belong here any more. I had a blast. It was lovely to meet up with a few of you over the last few years.

The car has gone to a good home and the new owner is going to be taking it on a road trip to Italy in the summer.

One day I'll get another one but until then I'll just be a dreamer looking at the classifieds once more.

Speaking of classifieds my old hardtop is on ebay if anyone fancies it.

Thanks all for the help advice and camaraderie. You were awesome.:slayer:
