Hi

My Fiat exhaust developed a rather large hole a few weeks back and I had to get a new exhaust fitted. I'm only about 20 mins from DTR so got them to fit their stainless steel option. I wanted the twin pipe option (2 pipes on the left rather than the pipes either side) but they had none in stock so went with the single pipe.

Initially, wasn't sure if I like the sound though.........with no disrespect to Subaru drivers, but it sounds like I'm driving a WRX with an exhaust wide enough to put your arm in.

However, I've driven it for a but now and I'm feeling a bit better about it. Admittedly, going under any bridge or through a tunnel is now a joy on the ears!

One thing I have found is that driving on the motorway with the roof down creates a resonating rumble through most of the car!

Not sure I should be complaining though - am still loving the B!

I know. I don't like the 'boy racer' noise either. Mine lives in a closed in courtyard and the neighbours have got used to closing their windows at night now as I'm away at 6am..the noise on startup is loud.

Good side is the DTR exhaust should last the life if the car rather than the couple of years for the 2 tonne mild steel jobbie that Fiat fit.

It is a shame more people don't go to a bespoke stainless exhaust place. I have found one near me that will do an exhaust for my car to my own specification for less than the DTR one costs.

The place in Notts that I have been recommended to visit is.

Chap who recommended them said they would be cheaper than DTRs 379.00+vat
I plan to visit them in a couple of months when I have saved up my pennies:devil:

i have a great system custom fitted sound just as i wanted a nice roar, but not a boy racer noise, man in Cardiff custom exhaust £300 and he said if i wanted sound adjusted in a few day he would do that too.and of course lifetime warranty.

he also done my son's bravo he wanted boy racer and he had just that for £260 very good company i would recommend him

Exhaust is on the list for me this year (although there is nothing really wrong with the original that is on the car at the moment) - probably going to go for a custom one (unless I can find a good 2nd hand DTR exhaust on a scrapper)..........

I've had a DTR single pipe on my b since it was almost new (2 years).

Yes, it can be a bit loud at times but it sounds great and should last. On long runs (south of france, scotland, whatever) we use earplugs anyway to cut down on wind and road noise but we still get a great tone.

Boy racer? Well I'm 58 but still can't resist planting it when going through tunnels or down narrow roads with high walls. Sounds amazing.

I followed a Scooby up the hill from Bakewell to Monyash the other day. The noise was probably anti-social and I was suitably ashamed of my behaviour. And then we turned round, drove down the hill, and did it all again(y)

I am bad enough with my induction kit, every high wall, broad bridge, tunnel I cannot help but press the go peddle a little harder to hit the 3.5k rpm and make her growl!! - I dread to think what I will be like with a suitably raspy exhaust!
