Hi
Has anybody got information about induction kits for a Barchetta. Is there increased noticeable performance/throttle response is there any induction noise.
Thanks
Harry

Please use the search - there have been quite a few threads on that ;)

Hey Harry,

Take a look at this thread, there are a few options mentioned if you read through it;

https://www.fiatforum.com/barchetta/131545-big-holes-resonator.html

In short though - there are a couple of off the shelf options, a CDA filter or the Green filter..........both give a better induction sounds (Green in best for sound) and both improve throttle response and mid-top end performance.

Ping onto the above thread rather than creating two recent threads on the same subject ;)

Not for the b but both manufacturers have rr graphs for a selection of other cars to backup their claims. Depending on the car seems to be between 5-8 bhp increase - cars used as examples are typically Audi TT's, Honda Civic Type 'R's' etc

I know where you are coming from but Green and CDA are well established and respected manufacturers! Not quite the same league as the bloke with a box of magnets in his garden shed claiming that sticking them on your fuel line will give an additional 200 bhp!!

I am looking forward to getting together with Peter and getting the GSR kit fabricated for the b - will be interested in the results!

Thanks for the help LITTLE RED B, I am new to this forum type of thing and find it difficult to navigate.
cheers once agian

No problem, your welcome - the more time you spend here the easier it gets........... :D

BTW, where abouts are you based? There are a few of us getting together in Nottingham this Sunday if you are at a loose end.....

Ignore ROBOT, he's like a bear with a sore head at the moment 'cos he re-arranged a few body panels on his b a couple of weeks ago!! :p

Avoid the induction resistors sold on ebay..the ones that you attach somewhere to the temperature sensor...all they do is fool the ecu into thinking the engine is running cold/lean so it pumps in more fuel...bore wash, higher emissions, poor MPG.

Unfortunately getting worthwhile extra power from a non-turbo (normally aspirated) engine is hard work and very expensive for little gain. I've seen chips for the B that are advertised as giving 5-7hp more. You won't really notice much apart from crisper throttle response and more noise.

The other option is to change the engine. Any of the Alfa 2L should fit. They mostly share the same block. The hard bit is connecting up gearbox etc.

I did major work on my coupe, taking it from 211hp when I started to 310 on a rolling road, mostly through, chipping, FMIC, bigger turbo, decent air box etc. But that was a turbo car where the tuning parts existed.

Other point is that tuning/more power = more fuel burn, more running expenses and shorter engine life. Don't forget to tell the insurers as well.

This question used to come up all the time from the guys with the non turbo coupes..early euro spec ones came with the B engine. the answer was usually to sell it and buy a turbo version, cheaper and less heartache than trying to mod it.

normally aspirated

Naturally Aspirated (NA) :D

hehehehhe
I had nothing else to say!!!
You guys said it all!

My opinion in general:
If you want more power(like more than an extra 10bhp) get another car. Trying to mod cars like the B is so NOT cost effective plus you will add many new problems on the list! Ask Doc. One thing brings the other and the result is usually not worth the money/effort. At least power-wise(bhp). But, if you share Doc's madness, I understand no matter what you choose to do.(y)

PS: Imagine a B with the lancia delta integrale 2.0 16v turbo engine(which by the way fits!) and the 4x4 system of it as well... THAT WOULD BE THE MOD!

Do the integrale thing (y)

I m not saying DONT DO IT
I know I DO
Just trying to talk the new guy into sense before he becomes one of us!

but wheres the fun in that, we would all only have 1 post each saying i bought a new car.

we wont have nothing to talk about:(

There's nothing wrong with enjoying the car as is....everyone needs advice when it comes to maintenance so there's plenty to post about...esp when it comes to colour..

one could of course consider Nitro injection kits...

... the only problem with that is that one day you'll see them valves punching holes through the bonnet...

Depends what you are looking for, if you want a better sound and a slightly more responsive throttle then go for the Green kit or CDA (I have to say I really LOVE the sound that the Green kit makes - especially 3.5k rpm and higher)..........

If you are race prepping the b then a change of induction kit is part of a bigger more expensive project!!

If you like what I've done with mine I could help you out with yours
