I noticed I have two bloody massive holes in my resonator (at least I think that's what the manual calls it!).The name, resonator, just makes me think it's an extra part that is to do with airflow and maybe makes it sound good

One hole can be seen in the pic where the red arrow's pointing. The other hole is on the other side, where the second bolt holds it in place. It's identical in size to that first hole.

I'm sure it's nowt serious because DTR must've taken it off to fit my new radiator a few weeks ago and I'm sure they'd have seen it and said something.

But anyway, what effect would this have on the running of the car?

Nope, nothing to worry about at all, in fact when you fit an induction kit you throw it away anyway!!

The idea (as I understand it) of the acres of plastic was to remove as much dust from the air before it arrives at the filter, keep in mind the b was originally built for the Med market and it makes sense........... (y)

I thought it was also to cut down the noise, but in any case LRB is right, you throw them away when you fir a CDA or other kit.

I have same "problem" and now I'm looking for BMC Carbon kit, does anyone know good webshop where to get it? I have found couple shops but they don't ship packets to Finland..

And then there is that other thing.. Does that 1.8 carbon kit fit to b without hammer modding?

The Doc has the BMC kit but had to move the battery to the boot to accommodate it.........I am not sure if its possible to fit it without moving things under the bonnet, I am speaking to Oldschool about having a GSR kit made for the b - I will let you know how I get on....

Ok, thanks for answear!.. Have to think what kit to choose.. bmc would be nice but.. like I can see in that picture there is not much space there.. what kind that gsr kit would be? I might be interested.. ;)

The filter I have is the BMC 225 Audi TT filter and thats bigger then the 1300-1800cc model you can get. If you go with the smaller filter you dont need to move the battery or anything like that.

The smaller filter is fine for the B as long as you dont start putting in fast road cams and stuff like that HEHEHEEH :slayer:

The Green filter on a new style B intake system.

You can get two types of Green filter for the B so make sure you get the correct one for your car.

Loads of info can be found on the forum about thsi filter. LRB has one if you have any questions about whats good and bad about it.

I had my CDA fitted like the Docs first fitting (with the battery in it's normal place), but it was a large size one (Ooh err Mrs). I've now done a bit of re-plumbing and it seem slightly better.

I've got some pictures (I posted them in another thread) of how BMC did it, but you need the new style throttle body to do it their way.

The Green sounds excellent, the sound at 3.5k rpm onwards is awesome! The Green can suffer from drawing in hot air under the bonnet but I have wrapped the exhaust and top hose - to be honest I have not suffered from drawing in hot air at all............

I am talking/working with Peter at GSR on a bespoke induction kit for the b, it is based on the Punto kit but will need modifying, it works on the same principal as the CDA as its a fully enclosed system but the intake pipe will be created to fit the b under the bonnet.

I do like the CDA system, does not quite give the same throaty rasp as the Green system but being fully enclosed should not suffer from hot air issues........

Mind you, if I remember rightly the Doc and myself went for a bit of an enthusiastic drive through the Bedfordshire countryside last year and both cars seemed evenly matched.............can't wait for the summer again!!!
